At Fort Worth, Tommy Norris and Monty Miller discuss the dangers involved in the oil business. Tommy also brings up the recent incident that resulted in one of his crew members dying, but Monty Miller does not seem to care much about the tragedy.

Monty suggests using his political connection to solve this issue but Tommy is concerned about how such a step could impact him personally and the people close to him.

However, Elvio's widow Ariana expresses suspicion about the settlement and asks, "If you're not to blame, why offer us money?" Her suspicion adds to the tension. On hearing Ariana's query, Rebecca mentions that it would be a long process to prove that the company is at fault. Nate tries to control the situation, but the ploy has seemingly failed to work well.
