What to expect from the new series Laid?
Created by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna, the show is a remake of the 2011 Australian series titled the same. The series showcases Ruby's morning after a nice date and bad sex, talking to her friend AJ:
“Here I am, after 20 years of dating,Thirty-three years old, on the phone with a Lyft driver at 2 a.m. trying to figure out if I’m standing on the northeast corner.”
The series is expected to explore themes around modern dating, love, and consequences of past decisions with a tinge of humor. The official logline of the show reads:
"Men in love are dying in unusual ways for the same woman, she must come to terms with her complicated past."
Ruby teams up with her best friend AJ, a true crime enthusiast and investigate her past relationships and the deaths of her exes. She reconnects with Richie, one of her old flames, and tries to find out what's going on with him. The introduction of each boyfriend will add more drama and quirk to the story with emotional depth and Ruby navigates through this bizarre situation.
The series also features a lineup of exciting guest starts, every time Ruby reaches out to a new Ex. The cast includes Finneas O'Connell, Michael Angarano, and John Early. These characters contribute to Ruby's troubled romantic history which unfolds through the series.
