It seems like Amazon Prime Video is gearing up for Halloween with its newest show, Killer Cakes. It is a reality competition show where competitors will participate in a bake-off and make some of the most amazing cakes.

If you enjoy watching baking reality shows expecting to see some pretty and colorful cakes on your screen, you might want to rethink Killer Cakes. The show is nothing like the previous bake-offs, as the contestants have to prepare such terrifying and realistic cakes that it might be too much for some people to actually eat them.

The trailer suggests that the contestants will work with top horror effects artists to make their cakes look terrifying and realistic. They will be judged by taste, the special effects of their cake, and the story behind its origin. The show showcases some of the most horrific cakes made by the contestants, which the judges appreciated.

With many baking reality shows coming nowadays, the show's concept was unique. Killer Cakes saw contestants where food is not just for eating but an experience.

Here is everything you know about the show, its cast, and some cakes showcased.

What is the plot of Killer Cakes?

Killer Cakes is a 2-episode miniseries released on October 8, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. Here is a trailer for the show:

In Killer Cakes, contestants create realistic cakes combining horror special effects. Two special effects artists guide them through bringing their creations to life.

Labeling them mere cakes would not be apt, as some cakes literally spew blood (read: raspberry sauce) on the judge's face. The focus of the show quickly shifts from the competition point of view to a game of guessing if that's cake or not.

Some cakes shown on Killer Cakes include blood-oozing puddings (made from strawberry jams) and mutilated pig-man. There are cakes on the show that even wriggle and lurch like little worms. The mutilated pig-man cake has its navel sliced off with a circular moving saw.

The show has four duos competing against each other to create the most terrifying and realistic cake. The winning pair will receive a Golden Knife Trophy and a grand prize of $20,000.
