The Severance Season 2 finale had Kier in his largest role in the series yet, and it has fans coming up with a dark and sinister theory regarding the Eagan family. The theory is that Kier and his descendants used their vast resources and wealth to continue living in a different form. But it is not a mortal body but rather technology, which does not have to contend with the limitations of a mortal body.

One of Severance Season 2's most intriguing moments was between Mr. Milchick and Kier Eagan's Perpetuity Wing wax statue. This lengthy conversation between the two has viewers wondering if the statue of Kier is actually alive. In the past, the founder of Lumon Industries appeared in the show as a statue or in a video.

Since the beginning, some fans have posited a theory that the Eagan family, including Kier, transferred their consciousness into a machine, implying the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The Eagan family members might have bypassed mortality by using AI technology

Considering that Severance Season 2 is a science-fiction series, it might be using a common trope of the genre, artificial intelligence (AI). Thus, a lot of viewers and fans believe that a machine containing an AI algorithm of Kier's "consciousness" was placed inside the wax statue at the time of its creation. The AI theory is even given some credibility during Milchick's interaction with the sculpture.

Mark completes the Cold Harbor file in this episode, and as a reward, he witnesses a supposedly comedic roast between Kier Eagan's wax sculpture and Mr. Milchick. In that comedic routine, the sculpture, while appreciating Mark, threw shade on Milchick.

While it is possible that the statue's responses were already recorded, some direct replies to Milchick's jabs hint that the statue might not be as lifeless as we initially thought. This is implied; this comes when Kier insults Milchick, for using lengthy words, something that has been criticized in the previous episodes by his colleagues, including Mr. Drummond. Initially taken aback, Milchick retorts with a mean jab.

Hearing that jab, a noticeable drop is observable in the Kier statue's voice, and it replies, "Thank you for that feedback, Seth." The change in tone is what led a lot of fans to suggest that the Severance Season 2 finale hinted at an AI twist in the future.

Has the Eagan family preserved their consciousness through AI as Severance Season 2 probably suggests?

While the mysterious board members of Lumon Industries may be the voice coming out of the sculpture in the finale of Severance Season 2, involving AI will make the Apple+ series more topical and relevant as the topic of AI and its usage in the workplace is a contentious issue. Also, incorporating AI will finally confirm one of the earliest fan theories that was even hinted at in the first season.

In the eighth episode of Severance Season 1, "What's for Dinner?", Helly completes her data refinement file. As a reward, Kier appears in an animated form on her computer screen and appreciates her for completing the task. However, this appreciation also includes a mysterious moment when this animated Kier tells her that he loves her.

His words foreshadow the twist that Helly's outie is none other than Helena Eagan, one of Kier's descendants.

Do you think that the Severance Season 2 finale is foreshadowing a storyline involving AI? Let us know.
