Created by Charlie Covell, KAOS premiered on Netflix on August 29, 2024. Since its release, fans have been quite excited about the show and it has managed to garner positive reviews from critics as well.

Based on Greek mythology, KAOS presents a modern retelling of the story of Zeus. While fans of the show have been eagerly awaiting some updates on season 2, there has not been much positive response from the creators.

Now, with other shows topping the Netflix charts and KAOS gradually moving down the rankings, the chances of renewal seem to be reducing even more.

Will KAOS return for a second season?

As of now, there have been no official updates from Netflix regarding the renewal of KAOS.

However, when the show debuted in August, it topped the charts and was only surpassed by non-scripted shows. Therefore, the chances of getting renewed for a second season seemed legitimate then.

Currently, KAOS is holding the 10th rank in the Top 10 shows in the US. Its global ranking has come down to #7. With shows like Monsters, The Perfect Couple, Emily in Paris, Deon Cole: Ok, Mister, and Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry holding the top five spots in the Netflix Top 10 US shows chart, KAOS will have a difficult time getting renewed for the next season.

Since one of Netflix’s biggest parameters for judging a show’s renewal potential is checking its place on the US top shows list within a few weeks of its release, KAOS seems to be doing rather poorly despite good ratings from both viewers and critics.

What does the cast and crew of KAOS say about its second season?

Charlie Covell (of The End of the F**ing World fame), the creator of KAOS, revealed in an interview that the show was supposed to be a three-part series. He further mentioned:

"I didn’t want to do an ending that was a total cliffhanger."

Adding,

"I hope that it feels satisfying as a season one in its own right, and there’s always hope for the more. Because I really would love to do more and work with those actors and that team. It was a bit of a dream come true.”

Jeff Goldblum, who plays the protagonist Zeus in KAOS, mentioned that he is already very curious about what happens next and looks forward to another season, adding:

“I said to Charlie, ‘What happens?’ And Charlie’s got many things in mind. So it’s fertile ground.”

Another actor, Misia Butler, who plays Caeneus in KAOS, is very positive about the next season. The show’s depiction of Caeneus as a transgender character has been deemed groundbreaking, and it is natural for fans and the actor himself to look forward to another season.

However, despite rooting for the second season, Misia mentioned:

“I have not heard a thing. I'm as desperate as any fan. I'm kind of also watching it as a fan. I'm like, all these stories. I need to know what happens.”

What are fans saying about KAOS Season 2?

KAOS fans have gone absolutely hysterical over the dropping viewership numbers, which reduce the chances of renewal.

A user named Realistic_Target_873 mentioned that fans should consider doing multiple rewatches of the show or just keep playing it in the background so that the viewership numbers rise.

However, another user, tdciago, mentioned that it is not the responsibility of the viewers to bring back the show, and judging by Netflix's policies, that seems an impossible task as well.

Most users agreed that since all the episodes dropped at once, people binged and then moved on to the next thing. Had the show released episodes weekly, its numbers would have remained steady.

With such opinions and great fan backing, it remains to be seen if Netflix will renew KAOS for its second season.
