Kaos, a comedic drama by Charlie Covell, hit Netflix on August 29, 2024. This new 8-episode series reimagines the Greek gods in a modern setting. Directors Georgi Banks-Davies and Runyararo Mapfumo have brought you all the episodes at once, so you can binge to your heart's content!

The Netflix series Kaos puts a modern twist on ancient Greek mythology, asking what if the gods existed today? The story begins with Zeus, played by Jeff Goldblum, discovering a forehead wrinkle that makes him wonder if his time in power is coming to an end.

He teams up with other powerful gods like Hera, Dionysus, and Poseidon to figure out what's going on. At the same time, a group of mortals learn they have connections to the gods and start to wonder if they can take them down.


Exploring the cast who appear on the Greek mythology show of Kaos

The series looks pretty dark and unsettling, judging from its trailer, which came out at the end of July 2024. Here's a look at the talented Kaos cast members who are part of it.

1) Jeff Goldblum as Zeus

Jeff will play the role of the King of the gods in Kaos, a powerful and self-important character obsessed with his appearance. He wears flashy tracksuits but freaks out when he discovers a new wrinkle on his forehead. He's convinced it means an ancient prophecy is coming true - that he and the other Olympian gods will lose their power.

As Zeus tries to hold on to his power, he makes some dangerous enemies and ignores good advice. His actions put humanity's survival at risk.

Goldblum, an actor and musician, has a pretty cool resume, with movies like The Fly, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and Thor: Ragnarok under his belt. Next up, he's set to appear in Wicked.


2) Janet McTeer as Hera

Janet McTeer plays the character of Hera, the queen of the gods. She's married to Zeus, who also happens to be her brother. She's in charge of women's sexuality, fertility, and marriage. Hera is a complex person with many sides. She often gets furious and seeks revenge against Zeus' lovers.

As Zeus becomes more unpredictable and violent, Hera finds herself in danger. On top of that, she's hiding a secret that could put her entire life at risk if Zeus finds out about it.

McTeer has been in various projects, including Ozark, Albert Nobbs, Me Before You, The Woman in Black, The Menu, and many others.


3) David Thewlis as Hades

David Thewlis portrays Hades, the god of death and Zeus' middle brother. He's the hardest worker in the family, with no time off taking care of the Underworld. Unlike others, he takes Zeus' prophecy to heart. Despite his good intentions, his efforts unfortunately go awry.

The actor and filmmaker has been in well-known movies, including Naked, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and Dragonheart.


4) Rakie Ayola as Persephone

In Kaos, Rakie Ayola plays the character of Persephone, the queen of the Underworld and the wife of Hades. She’s spent much of her life dispelling rumors that she was captured by him and made a child bride. Persephone adores Hades and marries him willingly, although rumors spread by modern art, Renaissance, and classical art say otherwise. It’s his family she can’t stand.

Ayola has worked on various projects during her acting career, including Grace, The Pact, Maisie Raine, My Almost Famous Family, No Offence, and others.


5) Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus

Nabhaan Rizwan plays Dionysus in Kaos, the charming son of Zeus. He has a magnetic presence that brightens up the room. His outgoing personality fits perfectly with his role as the god of pleasure and madness.

Rizwan has also appeared in other projects like Informer, In Camera, The Accident, Station Eleven, and 1917.


6) Cliff Curtis as Poseidon

Poseidon is the god of the sea and Zeus' younger brother in Kaos. He is living a laid-back life on a yacht near Krete. He's more into enjoying himself than causing trouble. But when Zeus starts to get paranoid, Poseidon and someone he cares about are put in harm's way, threatening the family dynamic.

Some of Cliff Curtis’s other works in his acting career include Whale Rider, Training Day, Avatar: The Way of Water, and more.


7) Stephen Dillane as Prometheus

Stephen Dillane plays the character of Prometheus in Kaos, who is Zeus' oldest friend and the one punished for helping humans by stealing fire from the gods. As a result, he's chained to a cliff, and an eagle eats his liver daily. The rivalry between Zeus and Prometheus represents the battle between the powerful and the people, between fate and freedom.

Even though Prometheus is trapped, he's part of a bigger plan to bring down Zeus and the gods. He's just hoping it will finally happen.


8) Aurora Perrineau as Riddy

Aurora Perrineau, an actor and model, takes on the role of Riddy, a modern spin on Eurydice from Greek mythology in Kaos. Riddy is a human married to and inspiring the famous rock star Orpheus.

Riddy doesn't know how much she matters to the universe - she's not even sure she matters to herself. From the outside, her life looks like one big privilege, but the truth is, Riddy is really unhappy and knows she needs to do something about it. Then, one morning at the supermarket, something happens that could change everything.


9) Killian Scott as Orpheus

Killian Scott, an Irish actor, stars as Orpheus, a renowned musician who performs anthemic hits similar to Coldplay's, confessing his love for his wife to a huge following.

Killian Scott gained fame through his stage performances and the Dublin-set drama Love/Hate. He then appeared in BBC's detective dramas Ripper Street and Strike and the film '71. Scott took on a lead role in BBC One's adaptation of Tana French's acclaimed Dublin Murders book series. The Marvel Cinematic Universe fans might also know him as Pagon from Secret Invasion.


10) Misia Butler as Caeneus

Misia Butler takes on the role of Caeneus, a restless spirit stuck in Kaos' Underworld, who becomes a key figure in the fate of Olympus. Butler is at the heart of the show's action as a trans-male actor playing a trans-male character with a rich mythic background.

You may recognize them from Netflix's fantasy film The School for Good and Evil and the beloved book adaptation The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself.


11) Stanley Townsend as Minos

Huge ambitions in Kaos drive Minos, the president of Krete, and Ari's dad. He will do whatever it takes to get power and impress the gods. Despite his tough exterior, he loves his daughter dearly. However, a hidden truth could ruin everything for him.


12) Leila Farzad as Ari

Ari is the daughter of President Minos of Krete and next in line for the throne. She loves her father, but her mother, Shila Ommi, blames her for her twin brother Glaucus' accidental death when they were kids. Feeling guilty and sad, Ari grows up hidden away in the palace. But then, some unexpected things happen, and Ari sets out on a path of revenge.


13) Billie Piper as Cassandra

Billie plays Cassandra in Kaos, a Trojan who has taken refuge in Krete, but she's stuck with a pretty lousy deal: she always tells the truth, but nobody ever believes her.


14) Debi Mazar as Medusa

Medusa has been gone for ages. It's like time stands still in the Underworld. In Kaos, she manages the riverbanks at the Lethe and wasn't exactly friendly with Riddy and Caeneus when we first met her. But is she just a strict official with snakes for hair, or is there something more to her?


15) Suzy Eddie Izzard as Lachy

Lachy is an immortal being, one of the three Fates. In Kaos, they write prophecies for every human at birth. Interestingly, the Fates operate beyond Zeus' control, which gets under his skin.

Little does Zeus know that the Fates have been waiting for his downfall and secretly helping it happen.
