As a long running police procedural show, it is no wonder that Chicago P.D. does not only deal with catching the bad guys but also focuses on the romantic and friendly relationships that bloom between the law enforcement units while working together.

With Chicago P.D. Season 12 inching closer to its finale, one tumultuous love story that is going to find its happy ending is the one between Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). The couple, lovingly referred to as Burzek, are set to tie the knot after an eternity of fans wondering if they are the end game.

As this one romance has found its definitive ending, another one seems to be brewing between Kiana Cook (Toya Turner) and Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar), both of whom are relatively new team members as Cook joined the team in season 12 and Torres in season 10.

Talking about the current dynamic, Turner told Screen Rant that the bond between them was getting warmer and was asked if they were getting closer romantically or just in a friendly way. She said,

Y'all are tripping! [Laughs] That is so funny. Just closer friendly right now. Closer friendly. That's it.”

However, she did not deny the possibility of the two becoming something more in the future.

Toya Turner hinted at the brewing chemistry between Cook and Torres in Chicago P.D. Season 12

Despite being a new member of the team Cook has already been making her mark and has quickly become a fan favorite. There has been increased interest in her character and that naturally gives a window to explore her romantic life besides focusing on her professional dedication.

Talking about the same, Turner told Screen Rant,

“I don't know where Gwen is going with our dynamic. I don't want to speak for her, but I feel like she didn't bring Kiana Cook on to be someone's love interest.”

She further added,

“But that doesn't mean it won't happen later on, whether that's someone new coming on or someone who's already on the show. Whatever chemistry you're all seeing, I'm telling you, it's because we're just locked in. That's all. That's my boo.”

She also said that their characters have definitely gotten warmer toward each other, saying,

“I got closer with Voight, and I think the relationship that I have with Torres will become warmer after this episode. I feel like we're becoming closer than what we were.”

Talking about the chemistry that Cook and Torres shares, Turner told NBC in an interview,

“I feel like Cook and Torres, it's something else," the actress tells us. "They work great together. You know, they do. But I also feel like there's this unspoken thing. Like, they know secrets about each other.”

She had also added,

“I don't know what to call what Cook and Torres are. I will say there is something in the season finale. You know what I mean? Just a little something. Just a little bit.”

With Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale set to air on May 21, 2025, fans are now eagerly waiting to see how the dynamic between Cook and Torres develops and if the two begin their journey towards being a couple right by the end of this season.

Chicago P.D. can be streamed on Peacock.
