Jeopardy! was back on Tuesday night in another thrilling battle of clues, wagers, and more. Ian Taylor, who defeated the 4-time champion, Will Wallace, was back to retake his winner's spot.

He was pitted against Aimee Record, a middle school teacher from Long Island New York, and John Liu, a Marketing Analyst from Santa Monica, California.

Ian Taylor, a Food sales rep by profession from Cleveland, Ohio, had a fortunate win on a Monday night. He was just one dollar ahead of the second-place holder, Heather. Taylor won $19,601, as his final winning amount. However, in a surprising turn of events, John Liu won the game night.

The game night started with Ken Jennings, the host, introducing the returning champion and the newbies briefly. He announced the categories for the Jeopardy! round shortly. The categories for the round were:

"ALASKAN CITIES// SINGING THROUGH THE CENTURIES// REALITY & COMPETITION TV SHOWS//GOING DEEP ON THE FAST FOOD MENU// SORRY, NO SHAKE TODAY// THE MACHINE'S BROKEN"

Ken also mentioned that for the category "SORRY, NO SHAKE TODAY", players' responses should not have the word "Shake" in them.


What happened on Jeopardy! October 29, 2024 game night?

On October 29, 2024, Jeopardy! game night, Ian Taylor opened the first round. All three players seemed fiercely competitive and started the first round with a bang. Taylor got lucky with a Daily Double shortly.

However, he could not come up with an answer. Aimee held the lead till the first break and Ian was in negative. However, as they returned from the break, Ian was focused on redeeming himself.

From -$1200, Ian was able to pull to $1000 as the round ended. However, Aimee maintained the lead with $3,800, followed by John Liu with $2,600.

For the Double Jeopardy round, the categories were:

"HISTORIC WOMEN// TIME FOR SOME DRAMA// AN "A" IN PSYCHOLOGY// JOIN UP!// MOVIE OUT// LAWS// PREFIXES."

Ian was on his toes as the second round started and guessed three back-to-back correct answers. John also upped his game, and soon was in the lead, before he hit the Double Daily and lost it all.

However, the second round kept juggling the players from top to bottom. Soon, Aimee was in negative, and John got hold of the lead again.

As the last clue of Double Jeopardy was left, the alarm blipped, and Ken Jenning announced they did not have the time for the final clue. He announced the Final Jeopardy category,' NEWS FROM THE STORK'. The clue for the Final Jeopardy round was:

"One of the 10 or so babies born at Argentina’s Esperanza Base in this place was fittingly named Marisa de las Nieves."

The final scores of all three before answering the Final Jeopardy clue were:

  • Ian Taylor: $3,400
  • Aimée Record: $600
  • John Liu: $5,600

Aimee, who wagered $598, guessed the incorrect answer and ended in third place with $2. John Liu became the new champion of Jeopardy! with a total amount of $7,801. Ian Taylor ended in the second spot with $5,601. The right answer for Final Jeopardy was:

"What is Antarctica?"

Fans must tune in to their local channels to watch Jeopardy! on Wednesday night with a new returning champion John Liu.
