Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams doesn’t believe in optimism, but for fans of her Netflix reign of terror, there’s a glimmer of hope. Wednesday Season 3 might already be creeping out of the coffin.

Wednesday Season 3 ideas are already brewing

Jenna Ortega, the queen of deadpan stares and murderously good one-liners, recently revealed that the Wednesday writers are already toying with ideas for another season.

While Netflix hasn’t made anything regarding Wednesday Season 3 official yet, that hasn’t stopped the creative team from plotting.

“We haven’t gotten an official thumbs up or anything like that, but I know that the writers are… With a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game,” Ortega told Collider.

Season 2 is still deep in post-production, with Ortega stepping into the ADR booth just two weeks ago. For anyone unfamiliar, ADR, or automated dialogue replacement, is when actors re-record their lines to fine-tune audio quality. Even the creepiest, kookiest scenes sometimes need a little extra polish before they’re ready for the world. Ortega confirmed:

“We’re still in the edit. I was doing ADR for it two weeks ago. That’s the funny thing about these jobs. You’re done, you wrap, but you’re not really done. So, I’ll probably be working on it until the end.”

She also teased what’s to come, promising bigger, bolder sequences and a full episode inspired by classic slashers.

“Visually, I can say we have some of the most fun we’ve ever had,” she shared.

The whispers of Wednesday Season 3

Jenna Ortega confirmed that the writers are already tossing around ideas for a third season, though there’s no official renewal yet. Given the show’s success and Ortega’s skyrocketing fame, it seems inevitable that Netflix will keep Wednesday alive. The series has carved out a space in modern horror-comedy, and with each season dialing up the macabre, a third chapter feels like a natural next step.

The actress didn’t share details on what’s being planned, but considering Wednesday has already pulled from gothic horror, Tim Burton classics, and slasher films, it’s safe to say things won’t be getting any less twisted.

What we know so far about Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday Season 2 has wrapped filming and is now in the final stretch of post-production. With Ortega in the recording booth for ADR just a couple of weeks ago, it signals the team is fine-tuning performances and ensuring every ominous whisper and eerie soundbite lands perfectly.

This time around, according to her, the show is going even bigger, with more elaborate sequences and stronger horror influences. Jenna Ortega hinted that the second season will push things further in both scale and intensity, something the creative team felt more confident about after the success of Wednesday Season 1.

“I feel like we kind of had a little bit more trust, and therefore, we felt like we could do bigger, more elaborate sequences, which is nice,” she explained.

One of the biggest reveals? A full episode dedicated to classic slashers.

The full slasher episode—what to expect?

Jenna Ortega confirmed that one episode in season 2 will be entirely inspired by slasher films. If season 1 was drenched in gothic horror and supernatural elements, Wednesday Season 2 is bringing in masked killers, brutal chase sequences, and a whole new level of chaos.

“We have a whole episode based off of slashers,” Ortega revealed, adding that this season will feature even more horror references.

The show has already paid homage to horror icons like Carrie, Beetlejuice, and Prom Night, so the question is: How deep will they go into the slasher genre? Will there be a final girl moment? A masked villain lurking in the shadows? A Scream-style whodunit? Knowing Wednesday, the answer is probably all of the above.

Ortega didn’t spill the specifics, but she did mention one bizarre visual moment.

“It’s crazy to talk about one frame like this, but there is a frame of Pugsley rolling his eyes back with this contraption around his head, that’s all I can say, and it reminds me so much of Full Metal Jacket. It’s insane. So bizarre,” she said.

The fact that she made that comparison alone suggests that things are about to get a lot darker and weirder.

Jenna Ortega—horror queen or typecast?

With Scream, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Wednesday, and her upcoming A24 horror film Death of a Unicorn, Jenna Ortega is quickly cementing herself as the reigning scream queen of her generation. But is this by choice, or is Hollywood locking her into the horror genre?

It’s a question worth asking. Her performances in horror projects have made her one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood, but will she eventually step away from the blood-soaked scripts, or is she embracing the darkness? Right now, she seems to be doubling down on it.

So, what’s next?

There’s no official confirmation of season 3 yet, but with the writers already planning and season 2 leaning even harder into its horror roots, Wednesday isn’t done haunting our screens.

One thing’s for sure. Wednesday Addams never really stays buried.
