Amazon Prime's Invincible has finished its season 3 with a brutal, almost 30-minute battle between Mark Grayson and the Viltrumite fighter Conquest. Jeffrey Dean Morgan provided the voice for the much-loved villain. His performance was truly spine-tingling, and even added emotions to this otherwise-hated character.

In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, which was published on March 13, 2025, creator Robert Kirkman assured that Conquest's tale is not yet finished.

Kirkman disclosed:

"I don’t think Cecil would’ve gone to all the trouble of containing Conquest the way he did if Conquest was dead. So I think it’s safe to say that Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Conquest will return in some capacity."

This previews what may be an even fiercer season 4, with Cecil trying to interrogate Conquest regarding the actions of the Viltrum Empire.

Invincible Season 3 finale was nothing less than a spectacle, with the limits of animated action scenes stretched. The almost half-hour battle between Mark (Steven Yeun) and Conquest had some of the most brutal moments in the series.

From Conquest almost tearing Mark's brother Oliver (Christian Convery) in two to Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) lying gasping for breath after a brutal attack, the fight had viewers at the edge of their seats.

Kirkman, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, said they wrote the episode as a "four-act fight" in order to keep people engaged.

"The goal was to ensure each phase of the battle had its own story arc and escalation," he explained.

In the final act, Mark bludgeons Conquest's head with his own. This displays how far Invincible is ready to fit its source material into an even more effective format.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan's rendition of Conquest brought a haunting depth to the character. Unlike in the comics, the series brought a flash of vulnerability when Conquest, in a barely audible whisper to Mark, confided in him about his loneliness and how even other Viltrumites feared him.

Morgan added:

"I love that scene. It showed another layer of Conquest."

This makes his potential return in Invincible Season 4 all the more fascinating.

With Conquest's corpse kept on ice by Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins), his return opens up the question of what role he will play in the future. Can he become a reluctant informant, having to betray secrets of the Viltrumite Empire? Or will he escape, leading to another brutal showdown with Mark?

Kirkman hinted at some thrilling news, saying,

"It’s entirely possible that there are scenes from Season 4 that Jeffrey has already done."

Invincible has been picked up for season 4 already, which will reportedly land in 2026. With Kirkman's hint at heightened stakes, it's evident that the series is preparing to have even more dramatic showdowns.

The audience can also get excited over the introduction of new heroes such as Powerplex (Aaron Paul) and Multi-Paul (Simu Liu), further increasing the show's continuously expanding universe.

Season 3 is now streaming on Prime Video.
