As Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is gearing up for its December 2025 release, promotions are slowly ramping up. While there is no official synopsis for the second season, we know it will be adapting the second book of the series, The Sea of Monsters. In this book, Percy and Annabeth have to undertake a dangerous journey to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve a magical artifact.

The world of Percy Jackson is filled with countless gods and mythical creatures from the Greek legends. However, there is one god that we know who is going to sit out the events of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. Actor Jay Duplass, who is known for playing Hades in the show, officially confirmed that his character will not be participating in the second season of the show.

However, that does not mean Duplass is exiting this exciting mythical universe. Since the book the season adapts doesn't involve the underworld, it means that the actor isn't needed for this season but may reprise his role in the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will be based on The Titan's Curse.

What did Jay Duplass say about Hades' role in Percy Jackson Season 2?

The Hades actor was interviewed by People Magazine on April 6, 2025, in which the actor touched upon his involvement in the second season, which is set to release this December. While rumors circulated across the internet that Duplass was coming back in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, the actor officially confirmed that he wasn't returning but teased a potential return for the third season, which was renewed last month. Duplass said:

"I am not in season two. There have been some potential droppings about season 3."

In the same interview, the actor revealed that Percy Jackson and the Olympians occupies a special place in his heart because it is one show that he can watch with his kids. Here's what Duplass said:

"I love being a part of the show. It's the first show I've ever been in that my kids can watch. It's not just that my kids can watch it. Percy Jackson is literally my children's favorite piece of art ever – the book series."

What is Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 about?

As stated before, the release window for the season is somewhere in December 2025. Just like the first season, this one will be adapting an entire book of the series. This time, we will get to see The Sea of Monsters come to life.

Fans will get to see Percy and Annabeth sneak out of Camp Half-Blood to retrieve the Golden Fleece, the mythical object that can heal the poisoned Thalia’s tree, which protects the camp.

The synopsis for the second book reads:

"When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse."

Do you believe that Jay Duplass isn't involved with Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2? Or are you hoping that Hades appears in the second season for a bit?
