The latest episode of Reacher Season 3, "Smackdown," aired on Prime Video and had a huge twist. DEA Agent Steven Eliot shockingly passed away. This was the most upsetting moment, with other characters dying too.
Sonya Cassidy, who plays DEA Agent Susan Duffy, talked about how sad everyone was to see Eliot go. This makes the other characters want justice.
Cassidy shared in an interview with TV Line:
"The loss of Eliot is horrendous. Horrendous. It is unimaginable to lose one of your team, someone who was so young… But it’s also a tragic sign of where they’re at that point. They’re losing."
Eliot's death is a big moment for Duffy's character. It makes her determined to stop Quinn's business with weapons and save Teresa, who's in a tough spot because of it all. Now, the third season is going to get even more action-packed. The situation is serious, and Duffy won't quit until she wins.
Eliot’s death pushes the team to their breaking point

Agent Eliot's loss has an impact on Reacher's team. They thought they were dealing with a drug smuggling group, but now they know Quinn is into illegal gun trafficking. The DEA's job gets more difficult because of this.
Reacher, Duffy, and Guillermo have to decide what to do next in this situation. It's not just about the right thing to do, but also about the best way to handle it. Eliot's sacrifice makes them more determined. Cassidy tells them that his death won't be in vain.
Now they are more focused than ever on taking down Quinn. They have to be careful, though, because the situation is more dangerous than they thought.
"His death cannot have been for nothing, so let’s just f–king do this. I am not walking away from this," she stated passionately.
In Season 3 Episode 5, there's a hint that something bad will happen to Eliot. He's too kind with a prisoner, John Cooper, Richard Beck's bodyguard. This shows us that the world is dangerous. Teresa is still missing, and Quinn's actions are causing more problems. This makes it important for them to stop him.
Reacher has to change the way he usually works alone. Now, he has to team up with Duffy and Villanueva to fight against a very tough enemy. They are working hard together to break down Quinn's network.
This enemy is one of the strongest they've faced in the whole series.
The darker, more ruthless tone of Reacher Season 3
Eliot's death marks a turning point in Reacher Season 3. The show is getting more serious. From now on, no character is safe from being killed off. This event will affect the rest of the episodes. Cassidy's Duffy will become even more important and dangerous in the storyline. His role will be much riskier.
Cassidy remarked:
"Duffy can see one path and nothing can deter her from it at this point. It’s very dangerous, it’s maybe not necessarily the right thing, but I admire her for it—and it makes for better television, as well."
The group doesn't have much time to think. Quinn and his tough helper, Paulie, are still on the loose. Every choice they make now is really important.
The show will get more interesting with more surprises and a lot of action.
Reacher Season 3 is on Amazon Prime Video, with new episodes weekly.
