Erin Lichy (star of Real Housewives of New York City) opened up about a life-changing moment from her college years, in a candid interview with Glamour published on November 26.

"I just lost it," Lichy recalled of discovering her pregnancy in her dorm bathroom at age 18. She shares:

"I was sitting on the floor for maybe an hour and a half hysterically crying, just like, 'What am I gonna do? Oh my God.' It was so terrifying to me."

For those who haven't been keeping up with the drama-filled world of RHONY, the show follows the glamorous lives of New York's elite women as they navigate relationships, careers, and personal challenges.

Erin Lichy, now 37 and expecting her fourth child with husband Abe Lichy, chose to share her story both in the magazine and on Tuesday's episode of the show, bringing a rare moment of raw vulnerability to a series usually more focused on designer handbags and charity galas.

Erin Lichy shares her traumatic experience in a powerful moment on The Real Housewives of New York City

In what might be one of the most genuine conversations to grace the Bravo network, Erin Lichy shared her story with castmate Jenna Lyons during Tuesday's episode. "I start school, I'm two weeks. I move in and all of a sudden, I find out I'm pregnant," she recounted.

"I was terrified. It was the hardest decision I've ever made. It was heart-wrenching."

During her confessional, Erin Lichy expressed apprehension about the interview's publication.

"I don't think I was when I agreed to it because it was kind of like, whatever I can do to help," she explained.

She went on to say,

"But it's hard to be attacked by the public, 'Baby killer! Murder!' It was bad enough going through it — no one needs to be abused after it."

Lichy's decision to share her abortion story publicly represents a significant shift in how personal experiences are discussed on reality television.

While The Real Housewives franchise has often been criticized for manufacturing drama, moments like these demonstrate how the platform can be used to address serious issues that affect many women.

Her vulnerability in discussing such a deeply personal experience has resonated with viewers who may have faced similar situations.

By speaking about her experience as someone who has since built a successful career and family life, Erin Lichy helps challenge stereotypes about women who choose to terminate pregnancies.

Her story illustrates how such decisions, while difficult, can be part of a larger life journey rather than defining moments.

Erin Lichy confides in her late father

In what became an unexpectedly poignant moment, Tuesday's episode captured a beautiful interaction between Lichy and her late father, Eliahu Yitzhari, filmed months before his passing last month.

In her Glamour interview, Erin Lichy shared the touching outcome of discussing her experience with her dad:

"I did wind up discussing my story with my dad, and his response was even more beautiful and heartwarming than I could have ever imagined. I went into this conversation with him hoping for acceptance and support, which I was lucky enough to receive, but beyond that, he gave me friendship. It shows how incredibly supportive he was and how he was such an open-minded man. I love him so much. I will never be able to put into words how much."

By sharing her story, Erin Lichy has added her voice to an important conversation, proving that sometimes the most powerful moments on reality TV are the ones that are, well, real.

The latest episodes of The Real Housewives of New York City starring Erin Lichy air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo and are available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
