Saturday Night Live, a show where actors, comedians, and artists perform skits and comedy acts, is currently airing its 50th season. The recently released episode 18 on April 12, 202,5, was hosted by Jon Hamm, who shared the stage with Lizo. In an exclusive interview with People Magazine on the same day, Jon said it was an honor to return as a host after fifteen years.

Jon, who made his Saturday Night Live debut in October 2008, discussed how he received more opportunities and discovered a humorous side to himself after Lorne Michaels reached out to him for hosting the show. Jon conveyed his excitement about hosting the episode and reminisced about the 50th anniversary celebration of the series. He said:

"I'm very much looking forward to it. It's a tremendous honor to be asked back. It's such a unique thing to do in our industry, and in television, and obviously, with the 50th anniversary being what it was, and I was a big part of that too, that was very cool."

Jon Hamm expresses gratitude for hosting Saturday Night Live season 50, episode 18

During his conversation with People Magazine, Jon Hamm shared that he was looking forward to hosting Saturday Night Live after fifteen years. Now that episode 18 has been released, Hamm will soon have a chance to become part of the SNL Five-Timers Club, which consists of celebrities who have hosted the show five times. Hamm expressed that it was "really cool" to be part of the show's "family." He said:

"It's funny. It's been 15 years since I hosted, so I've forgotten — Am I supposed to be nervous yet? I don't remember. I'm just so honored to be a part of that family, for sure. It's really, really cool."

He also thanked Lorne Michaels, who recognized his potential and gave him the chance to host the show. Jon hosted Saturday Night Live thrice before his recent appearance: once in October 2008, followed by January 2010 and October 2010. According to Jon, Michaels helped him realize he had a "funny side." Jon continued:

"I really credit none other than Lorne Michaels for offering me a [chance to] host Saturday Night Live [for the first time] to really get the sense of, well, I do have a funny side to me."

Getting the opportunity to host Saturday Night Live opened up doors for Jon as he starred in Bridesmaids and 30 Rock, which "led to other gigs." He concluded:

"Most of the people who knew me before they knew me for Mad Men knew that was the predominant side of me. So Lorne gave me that opportunity, which led to 30 Rock, which led to Bridesmaids, which led to a lot of other gigs in the Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Lorne Michaels universe. So I’ll be forever grateful for that."

The new episodes of the show air every weekend, exclusively on NBC. Fans can follow Jon Hamm on his official Instagram account.
