Shark Tank mentor Robert Herjavec opened up about things he learned from Mark Cuban in a video he shared via his YouTube account on October 20, 2024. The video featured Robert sharing various exciting things he had known through fellow Shark, Mark.
In one of the segments during the video, Robert talked about something that Mark Cuban told him about "winning always." It happened after Shark Tank's mentor asked Mark how he presented himself in any meeting and whether he expected to win every time. After listening to Mark, Robert stated:
"It really shook me. His level of confidence. I used to think I was pretty confident guy. When I met Mark, he just took it to a whole another level. It changed my entire trajectory and I have to say this one thing has probably made me worth hundreds of millions of dollars more than it was before I met Mark."
Shark Tank's Robert Herjavec opens up about one of the lessons he learned from Mark Cuban: Expect to win always
In the video clip, Shark Tank's Robert Herjavec talked about Lesson #2 (of 10), which he had learned from Mark Cuban. Fans must know billionaire investor Mark Cuban, who is also a fellow Shark on the reality show.
Robert opened up about the incident when he learned the said lesson from Mark. It shared:
"We had a lot of downtime during a Shark Tank. We're sitting around. We're thinking about other things. We're talking to each other. We're giving each other a hard time. So one day, I don't know how we got on the topic. I'm talking to Mark. I think I was going through a really big deal. I wasn't sure if we were going to win."
Robert recalled how it was one of those deals that made him feel that it might change the "entire trajectory" of his company. He stated that every entrepreneur sometimes comes across such "one deal." Despite wanting to ask Mark, he mentioned that he was "nervous."
While sharing about the incident, Robert also shared an additional lesson: whenever individuals are around someone who is more powerful than them, they should "pick their brain." He was referring to learning from people who are more successful.
Robert called it "picking" Mark's brain in the sense of gaining some valuable insights from Mark:
"So I'm sitting next to Mark and I say, "Mark, when you go into a meeting, do you expect to win, always?" He's like, "Yes, 100% of the time." And I'm like, "Well, what if it doesn't work out? What if you lose? What if you risk too much - - - -?" You know what he says to me? "No, it's going to work out."
After learning about what Mark thought about such meetings and situations, Robert Herjavec was "shoot" after witnessing Mark's "level of confidence."
Sharing more about that, the Shark Tank investor recalled what he used to think before gaining this insight from Mark. Robert stated he used to think, "Hope it works out." And if something were not to "work out" he would "protect" his downside.
However, from this discussion with Mark, he learned that Mark had "no downside."
"If I'm being honest with myself, I didn't expect it to work out; I hoped it worked out. There's a fundamental difference," stated Robert Herjavec.
