The acclaimed show Fire Country explores the hazardous side of firefighting and incorporates deeply personal relationships. It was developed by Max Thieriot, with Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, and initially premiered on CBS on October 7, 2022.

Notably, Thieriot is also a leading and fan-favorite character in Fire Country. He plays the character of Bode Leone, whose path started as a prisoner and ultimately ended up as a brave firefighter at Station 42.

During a 2022 interview, Max Thieriot talked about his show's success and expressed gratitude. While the actor believed in his co-stars, you never really know how the audience will react.

Initially, he just wanted to create the idea and let others take over. However, the more he wrote, the more Thieriot fell in love with the narrative. It was personal and close to his heart. The actor explained:

"For me, it was easy to write because you write what you know. Because it was so personal and so close, it all came from a place that I was connected to, so it was easy for me to translate that into these characters and this world."

Theiriot continued:

"It was not something that I was really having to build, from the beginning. The foundation was there... It’s an interesting process."

The Fire Country star was motivated by people, including the producers, his wife, and his friends, to helm the titular role. Since Max Thieriot already found the story compelling enough, he agreed to play Bode.

Fire Country fans know that the CBS drama takes inspiration from Max Thieriot's life experiences, especially how he grew up in Northern California. The actor spent a significant amount of time living around firefighters and in the kind of small-town community the show portrays.

At first, Thieriot believed his life wasn't that special. However, when he started telling people about his experiences, they said, “That’s a TV show". The actor explained:

"I didn’t really ever think that, at first, because it was just normal to me. It was just my life. It was just my friends. It was my community."

The S.E.A.L. Team star added:

"It wasn’t until I started telling people about it that other people were like, 'That’s a TV show.' You hear that all the time. People say, 'Yeah, that’s a movie... it’s a really great story."

The co-creator eventually realized that authentic, real-life stories can be powerful, especially when they’re told from the heart. That's why it became easy and fun for Max Thieriot to write the story in depth.
