Marking his place in the top 20 of American Idol season 23, Baylee sang “Gone Without Goodbye,” a song off his father’s 2006 solo album Welcome Home. As he closed the song, Baylee explained the reasoning for his choice in a conversation with host Ryan Seacrest.
"It means a great deal to us,"
He shared.
"That song is really dedicated to tragedy—9/11, you know, all the victims that it affected."
Baylee also shared a personal connection, saying,
"My mom was supposed to be on the second flight that hit the towers. So I feel incredibly lucky. It's an emotional song. I'm just glad I got through it."
