Brittany Lammon walked into Shark Tank hoping to land a deal for The Chub Rub Patch, her anti-chafing invention. But despite impressing the sharks with her sales and story, she left without an investment. That didn’t stop her from making the most of the experience.

In an interview with The Joe Pardo Show, she reflected on the aftermath of her TV appearance.

"It was ten-fold of what we were selling [before], so it was incredible to be on the show," she said.

The exposure from Shark Tank launched her business to new heights, even without a shark on board.

The Chub Rub Patch, designed to prevent painful inner thigh chafing, was already gaining traction on TikTok before Lammon’s pitch aired in February 2023. By the time her episode hit TV screens, she had positioned the product for a major sales boost.

So what exactly happened in the tank, and how did her company fare after walking away empty-handed?

Lammon went into the tank requesting $200,000 in return for 30% of her business. She described how The Chub Rub Patch adheres to the inner thighs to reduce friction because it is composed of hypoallergenic, medical-grade material.

The patches provide a waterproof substitute for conventional anti-chafing powders or lotions, come in a variety of skin tones, and last up to four days.

She also talked about her own experience with chafing and how her work as a hair and makeup artist for the WWE inspired her for the product. Seeing athletes struggle with the same issue pushed her to find a better solution.

The sharks were intrigued, especially when Lammon revealed her sales numbers: $105,000 in her first year, selling directly through her website. Robert Herjavec and Mark Cuban even admitted to dealing with chafing themselves, proving just how widespread the problem is.

While the sharks saw value in the product, they weren’t convinced it was the right investment. Cuban, in particular, wasn’t sold on the need for an alternative to Vaseline.

Lori Greiner, known for backing clever problem-solving products, suggested Lammon didn’t even need an investor to keep growing her business.

Ultimately, none of the sharks made an offer. Lammon left without a deal but with millions of viewers now aware of The Chub Rub Patch.

Getting on Shark Tank is a win in itself, even without an investment. Lammon knew what was coming and prepared accordingly. She hired a brand strategist to manage inventory and got her product listed on Amazon just ten minutes before the episode aired.

The result? A massive spike in sales.

The exposure also led to podcast invites and media features, including a segment on KSEE24 News in Fresno, California.

How did The Chub Rub Patch fare after its Shark Tank episode?

Two years after launching, The Chub Rub Patch is still going strong. The patches are available on the company’s website and on Amazon, with thousands of satisfied customers leaving glowing reviews. On social media, Lammon keeps the momentum going. The Chub Rub Patch’s TikTok page has nearly 90,000 followers, and Instagram is packed with updates, promotions, and testimonials.

Retail expansion is on the horizon. While The Chub Rub Patch isn’t in big-box stores like CVS or Walgreens yet, Lammon is working on making that happen. She’s also received interest from unexpected markets, including running companies, military organizations, and horseback riding brands.

She still manages to juggle her company with her full-time employment as a WWE stylist, which she obviously enjoys. She isn't sacrificing one love for another, as seen by numerous behind-the-scenes photos from WWE events on her Instagram.

Ultimately, leaving Shark Tank without a contract wasn't a failure; rather, it served as a springboard. The Chub Rub Patch is evidence that you don't need a shark to swim, and Brittany Lammon made her Shark Tank moment into a significant victory.
