Shark Tank panelist and KIND Snacks founder Daniel Lubetzky recently revealed the touching origin of the company's name. The entrepreneur revealed in an Instagram video that his father, a Holocaust survivor who firmly believed in the transformative power of kindness, served as the inspiration for KIND.
"We came up with the word kind." He continues, "It honored that spirit of us being kind to one another."
Lubetzky is well-known for his appearance on Shark Tank in addition to being the creator of the famous snack brand. He has supported companies that share his mission-driven approach as a guest investor, encouraging business owners who place equal importance on purpose and profit. He is regarded as a renowned figure in the industry because of his business philosophy and friendliness.
According to Lubetzky, the name was a reference to the compassion and humanity his father instilled in him as well as the material in the bars. More than just a snack, he wanted the brand to be associated with doing the right thing in life and in business.
Shark Tank's investor Daniel Lubetzky reveals why he named his snack company KIND
In a recent Instagram reel shared by Shark Tank's Daniel Lubetzky, he recalls when he founded his snack brand, KIND. During the video, the billionaire reflected back when his father was in the concentration camp and it is only because of the kindness of people around him, that he was able to survive.
"I always thought as a kid, when I started hearing about the stories of what my father went through in a concentration camp and in the Holocaust, that it was thanks to the kindness of others that he survived. Even the enemy, there was a German soldier that when people were not watching, threw a potato by my dad's feet, and that helped him survive."
His father was profoundly impacted by these modest deeds of kindness, which shaped his conviction in the transformative power of kindness. This gave Lubetzky the inspiration to continue his father's legacy in his own unique manner.
"And that's what he committed himself to do, to be kind to others, and that's why I named the company."
As the reel continues, Shark Tank's expert Daniel Lubetzky highlights how crucial it is to accept personal accountability in order to bring about constructive change. According to him, genuine development occurs when people realize their own ability to overcome differences and strive toward shared objectives and how waiting for others to act is insufficient.
"By recognizing the power that we all have to actually make a difference, to replace all these us versus them mentalities with a problem-solving mindset and joint together, you just need to recognize that we cannot wait for others to do it for us."
Shark Tank's Lubetzky wraps up the video emphasizing that individual acts are the first step toward transformation. He adds how a ripple effect can be produced by even modest actions, promoting harmony and improving society.
