The third season of Reacher recently came to a conclusion on Amazon Prime Video. Although the second season of Reacher was arguably the weakest, the third installment did a commendable job of righting the wrongs of its predecessor.
A riveting storyline throughout the latest season of Reacher followed Sonya Cassidy's DEA agent Susan Duffy trying her best to rescue her CI Teresa from the clutches of Xavier Quinn.
The finale episode of Reacher Season 3 confirmed that Teresa was still alive, although in a severely drugged state, by the time Susan Duffy arrived at Beck's mansion to rescue her.
Here's everything we know.
How did Susan Duffy rescue Teresa in Reacher Season 3 finale?
All throughout the third season of the Amazon Prime show, Susan Duffy maintained that her primary objective was to rescue Teresa alive. She went to great lengths to ensure this, especially during the finale that saw her breaking into Beck's mansion amidst the birthday party alongside Reacher and Neagley. Duffy scanned several rooms within the sprawling mansion before she finally located the room Teresa was locked in. Using the skeleton key given to her by Beck, she opened the door to find Teresa, sedated by Xavier Quinn.
Quinn's plan was to offer Teresa on a platter to the Yemeni war-mongers with whom he was trying to close an arms deal. Quinn would have otherwise disposed of Teresa, but kept her alive owing to her beauty. As the Yemeni client walked into the room, he was confronted by Duffy who instantly pulled the gun on him.
Duffy fired a bullet at the man's genitals and then shot her way through the corridors amidst chaos. Teresa was ultimately rescued and Duffy took her back to her grandmother — a much-awaited reunion!
Sonya Cassidy opens up about her role
British actress Sonya Cassidy recently spoke in an exclusive interview with TVLine where she shed light on her character Susan Duffy's motivations and attributes. Asked about the driving force behind Duffy throughout the season, Cassidy remarked:
"If there’s a line that sums up how Duffy operates, it’s, “I don’t let bad guys walk.” That informs who she is entirely. It’s what got her into the DEA and she’s worked her ass off to get where she is. She is immensely smart and capable, but we meet her a point where she is just about keeping her head above water. Like, it has really hit the fan in a way that she would never have imagined, and she desperately, passionately has to make it right, and that’s entertaining to watch, hopefully. You’re seeing a woman who is aware of the mistakes she’s made unintentionally, and she will lose everything if it means that she can save Teresa."
Cassidy added:
"What’s wonderful about this season is there is much of Duffy and her trio. She cares so much about Villanueva who has carefully mentored her through the years and is about to retire and have a well-earned rest. And she’s got this rookie, Elliot (Daniel David Stewart), who is very green and she’s responsible for him. But she’s struggling a lot, so Reacher’s entry into her life is very, very well-timed — even if it does throw open a whole other can of worms in the process."
All the seasons of Reacher are exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video.
