Suits: L.A. is the highly-anticipated spin-off of Suits, the hit legal drama that aired on the USA Network between 2011 and 2019. The new series features a fresh cast and is centered around a different legal firm than the original series.

While Suits is focused on Pearson Hardman based in New York City and chronicles the lives of Harvey Specter and Mike Ross, the spin-off is set in Los Angeles, where former prosecutor Ted Black starts working as an entertainment lawyer, but realizes that his job is not as easy as he thought.

Since the two shows are part of the same franchise, fans have one obvious question: is Suits: L.A. connected to Suits? The new Peacock series is indeed connected to its predecessor, as Harvey Specter forms a link between the two.

Is Suits: L.A. connected to Suits?

Suits: L.A. and Suits are both part of the same universe. While series creator Aaron Korsh initially wanted to come up with a fresh storyline revolving around investment bankers, he later molded the narrative to come up with a legal drama that would serve as a spin-off of Suits.

Apart from being set in the same universe, another factor that connects the two shows is the arrival of Harvey Specter. Earlier reports suggested that Gabriel Macht would be reprising his role as the fan-favorite attorney in the new series.

The Suits: L.A. trailer then confirmed that Harvey is very much a part of the story as he is revealed to be an old friend of Ted Black. In the trailer, a photo frame featuring young Ted and Harvey is seen. The prosecutor-turned-entertainment lawyer then explains how he always liked Harvey for his cockiness.

In November 2024, Gabriel Macht confirmed that he would be seen in the Peacock series by posting a video in which he was seen wearing a suit with the initials ‘H.S.’ He captioned the post:

“When an old friend is in need…it’s time to take care of things and make those very ‘things’ right.”

The following month, Stephen Amell, who plays Ted Black, revealed his character shares a history with Harvey. He said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“You’ll notice behind my desk that there’s a picture of a young Ted Black with what can only be a young Harvey Specter so there’s clearly a history between the characters.”

While the new show will largely follow Ted Black and his firm, Harvey is expected to make a few appearances. Hence, Suits: L.A. and Suits are connected due to their shared universe, premise, and characters.
