By now, Silo season 2 has proved that it can pack quite a few punches. In the latest episode of Silo season 2, Juliette came across Silo 17 after escaping from her vault. Thereupon, she stumbled upon the character of Solo, played by Steve Zahn. With no apparent purpose or reason, Solo is seen living inside the decrepit Silo 17 and recounts the tales of the past rebellion that exterminated everyone in his vault.
However, appearances are misleading in Silo season 2, and Juliette soon realizes that Solo isn't the one that he claims to be after all. Making her way through the rubble of Silo 17, Juliette comes across determining evidence that puts the identity of Solo in question and makes his claims of being around when the rebellion took place seem far-fetched.
While we hope that the subsequent episodes of Silo season 2 will shed more light on the true identity of Solo, it can be said for now that the character's identity is at best ambiguous. Juliette has discovered, to her dismay, that the Steve Zahn character might have taken on someone else's identity and is resolutely clinging on to the same. Here's everything that we know.
What is Solo's true identity in Silo season 2?
The latest episode of Silo season 2 had Juliette exploring the interiors of Silo 17 when she encountered a directory that revealed the name of a man called Cole Myers. Myers is said to be the shadow of the last IT Head inside the vault. This individual, nicknamed 'Solo,' appears nothing like the Steve Zahn character.
Moving on, Juliette further discovers that a few of the apartments belonging to the erstwhile suit-room employees are accessible within the premises. She walks over to an apartment that used to belong to Trina 'Tiny' Samuel in a bid to look for a helmet that would complete her suit.
Inside the apartment, Juliette finds a framed photograph of Cole and Tiny, containing Cole's nickname 'Solo' inscribed on the frame. It is thus evident that the Steve Zahn character has been using a fake identity. Juliette is at a loss to fathom the true reason behind his clinging to the remnants of the past.
Steve Zahn opens up about the character of Solo from Silo Season 2
Steve Zahn is an actor working predominantly across the mediums of film and television. He is known for playing Mark Mossbacher in The White Lotus season 1 and Davis McClary in HBO's Treme. He has also appeared alongside Drew Barrymore in Riding in Cars with Boys. In an interview with Radio Times, Zahn opened up about playing the character of Solo. He stated:
"Solo is a good name for the guy. He's been through a lot, and his world stopped at a certain point. The things we learn from other people: how we communicate, how we express ourselves, how we show emotion, how we function in society, those things were gone for him. They don't exist. And so he had to develop as a human being with books and pictures and things. o it's a really fascinating character to dive into and then to play opposite this other person (Ferguson as Juliette) who's so different, but they both want something from each other and need something from each other, in that process, it becomes really interesting relationship."
Silo season 2 airs new episodes every Friday on Apple TV+.
