Taylor Sheridan's Landman is set to accompany fans into 2025 as the series is just two episodes away from its finale, scheduled to come out on January 12, 2025, only on Paramount+.
Inspired by the podcast Boomtown, Landman focuses on the oil boom in western Texas, capturing the chaos and intensity of the environment. At the heart of the series is Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy Norris, who works as the landman which requires both: expertise in the dangerous business and skills to deal with individuals connected to the oil industry.
However, Thornton isn't the only big name in the series. From its regular cast members to guest stars, Sheridan has ensured he doesn't fail to impress the viewers. Among the stars in Landman is actress Robyn Lively, who is known for her roles in various movies and TV shows.
Robyn Lively took on the role of Ellie, a quick-witted waitress at The Patch Café who's occasionally seen catching up with the landman and other oilmen. Interestingly, this isn't Lively's first collaboration with Taylor Sheridan as she has also been a part of his other big hit Special Ops: Lioness on Paramount+.
Exploring Landman actress Robyn Lively's acting career
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively's elder half-sister Robyn Lively was the first to step into the entertainment industry. The now 52-year-old actress kicked off her acting career at the tender age of six with the 1978 TV movie Summer of My German Soldier. She had also been a part of some commercials before that. In an interview with Decider, Lively shared:
"I was five years old, and I had done many commercials, but… You know what? Other than commercials, that probably was my first television appearance. Yeah, you might be right about that."
Her recent roles have been in Taylor Sheridan's Landman and Special Ops: Lioness, in which she played brief yet exciting roles. As mentioned above, Lively plays the waitress Ellie in the drama series, known for her conversations with Tommy at the cafe.
Not only this, but Robyn Lively has also played the role of Special Agent Vivian Blackadder in fan-favorite police procedural NCIS. The show follows a group of skilled special agents who confront notorious criminals and solve crimes including murder, terrorism, and theft. While Lively didn't play a long-standing character in the CBS drama, she ensured leaving an impact.
Where have we seen Robyn Lively apart from Landman: Notable projects explored
Robyn Lively's acting career has been spanning for decades, and throughout her career, she has helmed various distinct roles. The project that earned Lively immense popularity is the 1989 film The Karate Kid Part III, in which she was cast as Jessica Andrews, a love interest to Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso.
Despite the popularity and global recognition, the film isn't Robyn Lively's favorite. The actress opened up about her beloved projects in an interview (via Buzz Feed) and said:
"Teen Witch is my most favorite thing I've ever done. I see how happy it makes people, and that makes me happy."
Robyn Lively labeled her 1989 romance comedy film Teen Witch as her most beloved project, as it gradually became a cult classic despite its failure at the box office. The actress also mentioned being surprised by how the film evolved, as no one thought it would be considered a cult classic.
Lively played the titular role of Louise Miller, a teenage girl who discovers magical powers. Apart from the film, Lively has also been a part of Netflix's hit series Cobra Kai, in which she reprised her role from The Karate Kid Part III.
As for her TV roles, you can watch Robyn Lively on Twin Peaks (1990-1991), in which she played a character named Lana Budding Milford, and earned recognition for starring in a David Lynch project. The actress also appeared as a nurse in Doogie Howser, M.D. (1991-1993), a medical dramedy and how can we forget her other recent career revival 9-1-1: Lone Star (2022-2023).
