It can be said without a doubt that Severance season two has made a lasting impression on the audience. The second season of Severance picked up the pieces of the abortive rebellion led by Mark and his colleagues. It also emphasized the fusion of the innie and outie selves of Mark into a strangely cohesive whole, thus allowing Lumon to make the best use of its severed employee.

The action of Severance takes place in a fictional town called Kier which is largely owned and controlled by Lumon. Among the other locales where the show takes place, Pip's Bar and Grille is of particular importance. It is at Pip's Bar and Grille that Mark and his sister Devon Scout-Hale are seen having an important conversation over cups of coffee, discussing the mysterious death of Gemma.

Pip's Bar and Grille isn't a real location, however, and the production team of Severance requisitioned an actual diner to shoot the scenes in question. The Phoenicia Diner is situated at 5681 NY-28 in the Ulster County of New York and serves as a popular spot for tourists on their way to the Catskills Mountains or the Hudson Valley. The original Phoenicia Diner was established in 1962 and was relocated to its present location in the early 1980s.

Here's everything that we know.

Pip's Bar and Grille is Phoenicia Diner in real life

Phoenicia Diner featured as Pip's Bar and Grille for the first time during the debut season of Severance on Apple TV+. The location is near the Lumon establishment and a go-to spot for the employees who work there. It became an important location in the second episode of Season 2 when Mark and his sister sat down to have coffee and discussed the mysterious fate of Gemma. It can also be surmised that Pip's Bar and Grille has close ties with the Lumon management since they had given Mark a VIP card after he was injured by Helly R.

Although Pip's Bar & Grille might seem unpleasant and commonplace, this is not the case at Phoenicia Diner. The restaurant is ideal for hikers exploring the Catskill Mountains or visitors visiting the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center or Hunter Mountain.

During summer months, the cafe offers diners an outside picnic-style atmosphere, as well as live music events. Another appeal for visitors to the restaurant is its Supper Club. The same group gathers for festivals or holidays, with a delicious menu tailored to the occasion.

Severance shooting locations explored

The creators of Severance have done a fascinating job in establishing the quaint city of Kier controlled almost entirely by Lumon. Several shooting locations merit attention. Lumon Industries' spectacular business headquarters is the historic Bell Works building situated in Holmdel, New Jersey.

Eero Saarinen, a Finnish-American modernist architect, designed the complex in 1958. This advanced lab and development facility was once home to approximately six thousand engineers and researchers.

Another prominent location featured on the Apple TV+ show is the Kingston–Port Ewen Suspension Bridge also known as the Wurts Street Bridge located in Ulster County, New York. Mark passes through this bridge while returning home to his Fortress of Solitude. Apart from this, several scenes featuring Mark's neighbourhood were reportedly filmed at the Village Gate Townhouses in Nyack, situated twenty-seven miles away from New York City.

Severance is exclusively available on Apple TV+.
