Daredevil: Born Again has been famously making the rounds after its recent debut on Disney+. Arriving almost seven years after Netflix canceled a fourth season of its own Daredevil show, Daredevil: Born Again aspires to be a new show and not just a continuation of the erstwhile title. Therefore, we believe that it isn't absolutely necessary to watch Netflix's Daredevil before engrossing yourself in Daredevil: Born Again.

However, having said that, it is noteworthy that Daredevil: Born Again's narrative will be exceptionally relatable to those members of the audience who have watched the Netflix show in the past, as it would allow them to have added context on the characters and the incidents in the narrative.

Daredevil: Born Again has been developed and produced as a standalone show that doesn't depend much on the previous Netflix iteration for storytelling effect. As the premiere of the Disney+ show went on to illustrate, the first episode, titled Heaven's Half Hour, quickly provided a round of exposition into where things were after the end of the Netflix show before moving on with its own narrative direction.

Here's everything that we know.

Daredevil: Born Again is set apart from Netflix's Daredevil

Back when it first premiered, Netflix's Daredevil formed a part of the first set of the streaming platform giant's original shows. Although it did contain its ties with Marvel, Netflix markedly kept the show away from the rest of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the other hand, the genesis Daredevil: Born Again has been seen as an MCU show that is situated in the specific context of the shared Marvel Universe.

After the cancellation of the fourth season of Netflix's Daredevil, several sections of the audience were puzzled about whether the Disney+ show would serve as a continuation, in effect, as the fourth season. However, as clarified by Charlie Cox himself, the Disney+ show sees itself as the debut season of a new show and not as the fourth season of a previous show. Despite this, there is an air of continuation, as the Disney+ show offers enough exposition to bridge the gap between the two shows.

Charlie Cox opens up about the Disney+ show

Speaking in an exclusive interview with TVLine, star Charlie Cox expressed his excitement at the prospect of the Disney+ show finally making it to the public. He commented:

"It’s been a helluva journey. It’s wild that we’re here today, getting ready to release this show.”

When asked about the similarities and differences between the new show and the old one, Cox explained:

"It’s an interesting tightrope to walk, really, because we want to make sure that we include the elements of the show that made it popular and successful in the first place (on Netflix), the things that we discovered in the original show that landed with the audience. At the same time, we’re on Disney+ now, were calling it ‘Season 1’ even though the history is the same, and so we want to attract a new audience. We don’t want to suggest that people need to go back and see three seasons in order to understand and follow this story. So that’s an interesting jumping off place to achieve.”

Daredevil: Born Again is exclusively available on Disney+.
