Since its last year debut, NCIS: Sydney has been a standout spin-off to the original NCIS TV show. It centers around a joint team of U.S. NCIS agents and Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers who join forces to fight naval-related crime in the Indo-Pacific region.
The area faces rising tensions, and the U.S. and Australian agents are expected to overcome their differences and trust each other as a team. Each episode of NCIS: Sydney focused on unique cases like a shark spotting out a severed arm, the murder of a U.S. petty officer, and more.
NCIS: Sydney Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, showing Mackey facing off against Rankin with her hand on her gun. Interestingly, the newly released Season 2 premiere kicks off right after the Season 1 finale, suggesting the suspense will keep on increasing in future episodes.
As for NCIS: Sydney Season 3, CBS hasn't greenlit the spin-off for another chapter. While the show's reviews play a part in its success, viewership numbers matter most.
This means if the ongoing season receives an impressive viewership, fans might get a Season 3. Additionally, the NCIS shows are known for having more than one season and compelling narratives.
The first episode of Season 2 arrived yesterday on CBS, and fans will have to wait until its finale to know if there's more to come. Continue reading for more infotainment.

As mentioned above, NCIS: Sydney hasn't been renewed for Season 3, as Season 2 has just debuted on the network. However, if the latest season ends on a cliffhanger similar to the first, there might be room for more action and suspense.
However, if the show doesn't perform well, CBS might cancel it after Season 2. As for the cast of a potential Season 3, all key characters, including NCIS Special Agent-in-Charge Michelle Mackey, AFP Liaison Officer Evie Cooper, and AFP Second-in-Command Jim “JD” Dempsey, are expected to return.

(Video via YouTube/TV Promos)
Olivia Swann, the actress who brought Michelle Mackey to life, was absolutely right about the Season 2 premiere. The actress previously teased in an interview with TVLine that Season 2 is going to be even more thrilling. Swann mentioned car chases, explosions, and a gunfight, saying:
"Season 2 goes above and beyond the action in Season 1! There are so many scenes and sequences coming up this season that I’d love to mention but, spoilers! "
She continued:
"We definitely hit the ground running with the first two episodes — car chases, explosions, and a gunfight on a pirate ship, to name a few. There’s a lot of cool things to come!"
As seen in the Season 2 premiere, the team deals with Colonel Rankin's shocking betrayal. He was trusted with overseeing the transfer of Russian spy Anna Neimus, but in reality he has been working with the culprits.

The episode is filled with suspense as Rankin later suffers a heart attack, and Mackey and JD find out that the Russians are now planning to silence him. After facing notable threats, the team finally captures the spy, and the other office is now safe.
However, Rankin remains in a coma, and his fake funeral is used to deceive the Russians. The first episode ends with the team knowing that the enemy hasn't stopped yet, and they must continue their fight to dismantle this Russian group.
