Three Women, Starz's latest adaptation of Lisa Taddeo's non-fiction book of the same name, premiered on September 13, 2024.
The book and the show recount the lives of three women as they understand desire, sexuality, and relationships. One of the characters, Gia, is modeled after Taddeo, who traveled extensively worldwide to research and bring these women's stories to life. While all the stories in the series and the books are about real women, characters are given pseudonyms to respect their privacy.
However, Maggie Wilken's character is the only one who is not given a pseudonym. Maggie's character is named after the real-life social worker Maggie, both in the books and the show, and is modeled using multiple interviews, court documents, and text messages.

Who is Maggie from Three Women? Exploring her real-life story
Maggie Wilken is the only one out of the three women who was involved in the making of the Starz series. Actress Gabrielle Creevy plays her character on the show. Maggie was allegedly groomed by her high school English teacher, Aaron Knodel when she was just 17 years old.
Aaron was a married man who supported Maggie emotionally as she shared the details of her turbulent childhood with her alcoholic parents. She started staying after class to study and opened up about her childhood traumas with her teacher. Their after-school meetings soon translated into home visits, where Maggie would watch movies with Aaron while his children slept upstairs and his wife was away.
Seven years later, Maggie filed a case against Aaron accusing him of inappropriate grooming and sexual preying.
What happened to Aaron? Where is real-life Maggie Wilken from Three Women now?
Aaron was charged with five felony counts of solicitation of a minor over alleged incidents at his residence and in the student's car. While he denied any such allegations, prosecutors found nearly 100 calls between him and Maggie.
However, Aaron's wife testified in his favor saying that her husband regularly 'helps' students after school hours. Eventually, he was acquitted of three of the five charges.
After a petition was filed to reinstate his right to teach, Aaron continued to teach. Maggie, now in her mid-30s, is a social worker in the mental health field. She actively worked alongside showrunners Laura Eason and Creevy to make her story come alive on television.
In an interview with MamaMia, Maggie opened up about her experience of working on this story,
"Lisa shows up for me time and time again on so many levels. She also deserves so much credit for lifting me up for others to hear my voice when I had been repeatedly silenced by my own community."
Taddeo felt it was an honor for her to bring these unheard stories of women who were silenced by society and where the men had the last word.
"Stories like hers are shelved, pillowed and muffled. It is one of the great honours of my life that this miracle of a human has placed her trust in me. I love you with my whole heart dear Maggie. You are forever."
