Chicago Fire is a procedural drama from NBC, generating traction since 2012. The primary plot revolves around the lives of the brave firefighters, rescue operators, and paramedics part of the Chicago Fire Department.

One of the show’s prominent characters Kelly Severide (played by Taylor Kinney) has been in the limelight lately, causing fans to think he might be exiting the franchise.

To clarify: No, Kelly Severide is not leaving Chicago Fire. In a recent episode of Season 13, fans were introduced to a new character, Chief Dom Pascal (played by Dermot Mulroney) at Firehouse 51. While this is a refreshing chapter, Severide and Pascal don’t seem to get along well. Especially, since Severide is used to doing things the old way under his old chief Wallace Boden.

In addition to the tension with his new chief, Severide isn’t exactly mingling with the other members of Firehouse 51. Specifically, things appear rocky between him and his wife Stella Kidd as compared to before.

The couple have been dealing with relationship issues since they got hitched and it's beginning to affect their job, or his at least. Similarly, Severide isn’t thrilled about his biological brother Jack Damon joining in either. Severide being in cahoots with his family has fans now speculating about his departure from the longtime drama.

Severide and Kidd are pretty much like PB&J since getting together in Season 6 of Chicago Fire. While no relationship, especially in this procedural drama is without problems, they’ve been able to navigate through any turbulence thus far. However, in Season 13 episode 2, things got a little too intense, causing a rift in Severide and Kidd’s marriage.

The strife began after a startling call to save a woman’s life demanded the action of Firehouse 51. During this intervention, Kidd (in a leadership position) gives explicit instructions to Severide’s brother, which he deliberately ignores.

This caused Severide to lie to his wife about his brother’s ignorance while on the job, which almost killed the woman in danger. The lies and Severide’s brother in a way undermining Kidd’s orders caused her to be very uncomfortable working with both her husband and brother-in-law.

While this is only the tip of the iceberg, whether or not their brotherhood would continue to be a hindrance for Kidd remains to be seen in the remaining episodes of Chicago Fire.

What is Kelly Severide's problem with Jack Damon in Chicago Fire?

Season 13 of Chicago Fire has barely begun and Severide and his brother Damon are already in cahoots with each other. The bombshell ending of Season 12 saw Damon unwrap a shocking revelation: He and Severide are biological brothers. However, it appears Severide is still warming up to the idea of having a sibling.

As mentioned earlier, the reason the duo had a problem stemmed from his sister-in-law’s order; not following it. Instead of heeding Kidd’s stern orders and following them like the rest of the team, Damon goes rogue.

In episode 2, the newbie failed to comply with Kidd’s orders during a rescue operation. However, instead of listening to her, he goes his own way, endangering the life of a woman in the process.

Thankfully his brother and the rest of the team pitched in at the right time, saving the day. But, Severide was pissed off at his brother disrespecting his wife and confronted him about the same. Initially, Severide attempted to cover for his little brother - since Damon could’ve been kicked out.

Damon justifies his disobedience claiming he intended to assist Kidd and not hurt her. Unconvinced Kidd takes a breather to fathom the incidents of the day and getting into an intense conversation with her husband.

This led to Damon and Severide having an explosive fight ending with one solution: One of them had to leave. This is another reason why fans were led to believe Severide could be exiting the series.

News about Taylor Kinney leaving Chicago Fire remains unconfirmed and his future is still under speculation.
