Season 3 of Jeremy Renner's hit thriller series Mayor of Kingstown ended with major deaths including Iris, Milo, and Warden Kareem. The show is filled with unpredictability and intense drama between the characters, often leading them to deadly situations.

Kareem's story concluded with his death in Season 3 when prisoners attacked him. Played by Michael Beach, Kareem was seen struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after encountering harrowing situations due to the riots. Despite that, he tried hard not to rely on Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner).

The circumstances leading up to Kareem's death kept the viewers on edge. When Kareem knew he was close to getting fired, he chose to let the ruthless members of the Aryan Brotherhood take his life rather than lose importance in the town.

What did Michael Beach say about Kareem's death in Mayor of Kingstown Season 3?

While many might think that Kareem's departure from the series will affect the story of his family members, Beach told ScreenRant that in his opinion his death was the best ending.

The actor explained how Kareem struggled with his mental health and never really sought help for himself. Beach said:

"Well, for me, he's in jeopardy of losing all of the benefits that he's had, that he's developed all this time, so his family is in dire straits. And the scary part is that if he continues on, he may jeopardize that."

Beach mentioned that Kareem risked everything without realizing the deadly outcome, and continued down the same path till he reached a tragic end. The actor added:

"She's being helped on one end, but being hindered on the other end by him... I think I only have 2–4 scenes per episode to really work on this and that. So, I think the way we ended up doing it, to me, was pretty powerful."

The Inheritance star explained that Kareem wasn't just putting himself in danger, but his family too. His character reckoned that if he was out of their lives, their situation would improve.

Will Kareem's death in Mayor of Kingstown affect the crime drama?

Even though Kareem wasn't a central figure in Mayor of Kingstown, he did play a crucial role in advancing the plot of the crime thriller. He discovered in the end that Kevin was secretly involved with Bunny, which could lead to more complications in Kingstown.

Kareem tried to convince Kevin to stop working with Bunny, but his efforts were wasted. Being one of the mediators, Mike will now face significant hurdles as it was Kareem with whom he used to negotiate.

Things might turn wild in the upcoming seasons if someone like Mike takes over Kareem's position in the popular crime show.

Despite its growing popularity among viewers, Paramount+ hasn't renewed Mayor of Kingstown for its fourth season. However, showrunner Hugh Dillon said the following in an interview with ScreenRant:

"So many of us and the characters are predisposed to their darker impulses... But you’ve got to have hope."

Even if many of the bad guys and some main characters have died in the show, fans have a whole lot to look forward to.

The co-creators of the show, Taylor Sheridan, and Hugh Dillon, also hinted at a seven-season plan for Renner's hit TV series, with more crimes and drama involving prisoners, guards, police, and local or street gangs in the town.
