An adult animated series, Arcane is a steampunk adventure-action series on Netflix. Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the series is grounded in Riot's League of Legends universe.
The two-season-long series revolves around the sisters, Vi and Jinx. The plot of the series is about Vi and Powder, who find themselves caught up in the constant conflict between the wealthy utopian city of Piltover and the oppressed underworld of Zaun.
The escalating conflict is over clashing beliefs and arcane technologies. The series cast features Hailee Steinfeld as Vi, Ella Purnell as Jinx/Powder, Kevin Alejandro as Jayce Talis, Katie Leung as Caitlyn Kiramman, Toks Olagundoye as Mel Medarda, and Harry Lloyd as Viktor.
While the Arcane season 2 finale saw Jayce sacrifice himself to save Piltover, many viewers have been wondering whether Jayce is dead or simply teleported to another realm along with Viktor.
Is Jayce really dead in Arcane season 2?
Many believe when Jayce and Viktor were sucked into Jayce's rune, Jayce died. Fans are now believing that Jayce getting sucked into his rune does not have to mean he's dead. It could also mean that he has been teleported to another realm.
Some fans have pointed out that since we see Orianna, this could mean that Jayce is still alive. Some audiences are also thinking that Jayce could simply be teleported to another dimension or timeline.
Fans have also speculated there could be a possibility that Jayce and Viktor are just going back and forth in time to ensure the bootstrap paradox they created actually happens.
While many fans are holding out hope to see Jayce once again, they should keep in mind that Arcane will not be returning for a third season. There is a possibility that Jayce may return in some other projects of League of Legends.
Arcane is the first project in the League of Legends universe. Keeping in mind that season 2's ending already established a villain and we know that other shows are currently under development, Jayce could return in future projects.
What happened between Jayce and Viktor?
In episode 6, while it seemed like Jayce killed Viktor once and for all, Viktor was brought back by Singed. This allowed Viktor to turn into the Machine Herald. The episode also saw Viktor's humanoids sprawled across Piltover and connecting people to the hive mind.
When Viktor becomes obsessed with reaching the Hexgate core, Ekko throws his Z-drive at him, which destroys his armor and frees Jayce from his grasp. When all hope feels lost, Jayce tries one last time to stop Viktor. He stated,
"You've always wanted to cure what you thought were weaknesses. But you were never broken Viktor, there is beauty in imperfections. They made you who you are and what I admired about you."
After hearing Jayce's words, Viktor finally sees the destruction his actions would cause Piltover, Zaun, and Runeterra. Realizing he must stop, Viktor embraces Jayce, and they both disappear into Jayce's rune.
