Harley Quinn Season 5 will stream its first episode on January 16, 2025, i.e. in a week. Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, Showrunner Sarah Peters, Kaley Cuoco, and Lake Bell all return for the fifth season.
After restoring the moon and saving the day in the season 4 finale, Harley and Ivy move to Metropolis to start their lives afresh. However, despite leaving Gotham, they have to face new villains.
Why do the characters move to Metropolis in Harley Quinn Season 5?
Harley Quinn Season 5 has its villain protagonists shift their home base from Gotham to Metropolis, the city that Superman protects. The two lovers are starting a new life in Metropolis, but soon discover new threats from the fan-favorite Superman villain Brainiac.
However, joining Harley and Ivy are Bane, Bruce Wayne, King Shark, and Lois Lane. The synopsis for the fifth season reads:
"Harley Quinn Escapes Gotham, only to find trouble in Metropolis. With Poison Ivy by her side, a massive threat awaits. Get ready for an epic showdown!"
What's in store for Harley Quinn Season 5?
Here is what you need to remember before you begin streaming Harley Quinn Season 5:
- The change of city
Even if Harley Quinn Season 5 isn't set in Gotham, it is not getting rid of established supporting characters. As Ivy and Harley are restarting their lives in Metropolis, they will encounter new villains, with the help of past acquaintances like Bane.
- A new alliance is formed in Harley Quinn Season 5
Similar to the said storyline from the comics, this season may have Harley attempt to write love columns at the Daily Planet. Helping her write is Lois Lane. Apart from professional help, Lane is also trying to fight villains. Apart from Lane, Harley and Poison Ivy may also have Bruce Wayne and The Joker as allies.
- Brainiac may be the main antagonist
Looks like the main threat of this season is Brainiac, who is modeled after the pre-Crisis version. He is inside his iconic skull vessel planning to enslave Earth and he has a pet monkey, Koko, which is cute and insidious simultaneously. Apart from him Harley and her allies have to fight several other antagonists too.
- Red X and the Enchantress are there too
Additional villains in Harley Quinn Season 5 are Red X and Enchantress. So, there are theories regarding the identity of the mysterious skull-mask assassin. Season 4 killed off the first Robin, Richard "Dick" Grayson, or Nightwing. However, the finale also delivered the twist that he was resurrected by Talia Al Ghul using the Lazarus Pit. So, this Red X may be a now-alive Dick.
We also see the Enchantress in the Harley Quinn Season 5 trailer. She raises an undead army, which fights Ivy. The official press release also confirms Lex Luthor's return from the Kite Man spinoff. However, we don't know if he is still holding on to his grudge against Harley.
Apart from the ones mentioned above we also know that both Bane and King Shark are trying to keep up as parents while also helping Harley and Ivy.
