The season 7 finale of Outlander, 'A Hundred Thousand Angels,' ended with wild twists and turns. Here the characters explore their past and the ones they lost with the help of time travel.
The finale episode ended on a cliffhanger as the fate of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) long-dead daughter Faith was teased. As Claire was recovering from the battle of Monmouth, she was visited by a ghost of a character who appeared in Outlander Season 2.
This character not only begged for forgiveness, but also revealed shocking twists for newbies Jane (Silvia Presente) and Fanny (Florrie Mae Wilkinson)
Turns out that the season 7 finale of Outlander finally teases the fate of Faith. The season ends with Claire telling Jamie that she does not believe that their daughter died as stillborn. Even more shocking is when Claire guessed Faith was Jane and Fanny's mother.
Speaking to Decider, Sam Hueghan said-
"I think Jamie is exactly the same place as the audience: complete shock. And I think repercussions are going to be felt for a long time. It asks and poses many questions."
Hueghan also mentioned that Faith's story might be explored in the eighth and final season of the historical drama. However, it is likely that Faith is dead but fans will have to wait for Outlander season 8 to unearth all the answers surrounding her fate.
What happened to Jamie and Claire's daughter Faith in Outlander?
The finale episode of Outlander Season 7 began with Claire recovering from the wounds that she incurred at the Battle of Monmouth. All thanks to Dr. Denzel Hunter (Joey Phillips) who treated Claire's bullet wounds.
Claire encounters Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) in her dream, where he begs for forgiveness. We last saw Master Raymond in Outlander Season 2 Episode 7 treated Claire who was heavily wounded in a duel.
In that episode, Claire discovered that she had given birth to a stillborn. Master Raymond used mysterious powers to heal Claire, who was dying of puerperal fever.
We also see Claire sobbing and singing to her dead daughter Faith curbed in her arms. She softly hums the song 'I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside'.
Well, things took a major turn in the Outlander Season 7 finale, as the opening scenes showed a younger Jane and Fanny running behind dragonflies in a field. While this may be a regular throwback scene one can only relate it with Claire's love for dragonflies.
Jamie helps William free Jane from imprisonment, only to find out she has died by suicide. Jamie and Claire later offer Fanny to move with them to Fraser's Ridge. In an emotional sequence, Claire gives Jane's possession to Fanny, she reveals that they loved dragonflies as kids and their mother's name was Faith.
Claire can't help but connect the dots between her deceased daughter and the vivid dream she had. Things took a major turn when we witnessed Fanny singing 'I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside' and revealed that her mother, Faith sang this to her. The season ends with Claire telling Jamie that she thinks her daughter survived.
There can be two instances that can be related to Faith's fate. One might be that Faith died as a stillborn and it was all a coincidence. Another one is Master Raymond used magical powers to heal the stillborn. Even though Faith is not alive in the current Outlander timeline, she survived and even raised a family.
Well for that to reveal we have to wait for Outlander Season 8.
Did Faith die in Outlander books?

In the recent Outlander book titled Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone, author Diana Gabaldon mentions that Claire's daughter and Fanny's mother were both named Faith. However, there were no such instances that would prove they were actually the same person.
It might be possible that author Diana Gabaldon might reveal the secret in her upcoming book which isn't out yet.
