Right from the beginning of The Dragon Prince, speculations about Callum’s lineage have been a hot topic of discussion. Given all his magical abilities and other characteristics, it would seem cool for Callum to be a half-elf.

However, upon deeper observation and study of the character, theories of Callum not being half-elf arise, and it becomes important to understand why it would also be good for the show to give him a human lineage.

Let's explore why the chances of Callum being a half-elf in The Dragon Prince are rather less, and why he might be a human after all.

Is Callum half-elf in The Dragon Price?

Callum is the High Mage and Prince of Katolis and has a stable connection to the Ocean and Sky Primal. He is the son of Queen Sarai and her first husband Damian and later got adopted by King Harrow.

In The Dragon Prince, Callum also has a step-brother named Ezran and is King Atticus’ step-grandon. Since much is not known about his father, Callum is considered to be bi-racial because it is assumed that his father belonged to a different race than his mother.

Since not much is known about Callum’s father, it is natural for the fans to want him to be some sort of a magical creature as that would prove that humans and creatures of magic can have relationships.

However, besides the mystery surrounding Callum’s father’s identity, there is really not much to back up Callum’s possibility of being a half-elf. Moreover, going by the themes of the show and how it shows hard work is the only way to success, it is kind of important for Callum to be a human.

For the three seasons of The Dragon Prince, Callum has been shown to be an extremely hard-working character, who, after much difficulty was able to perform magic through sky arcanum, a primal magic.

Now, if Callum is revealed to be a half-elf or a half-breed, and has an elven heritage, the whole basis of the show’s narrative would fall apart, and that would make the events leading to Callum’s growth as a character seem pointless.

Callum’s identity as a half-elf would mean that his preachings of peace, and proving that humans are worthy of doing magic would lose their value because of his lineage.

Moreover, if his father is shown to be an elf or any other kind of magical creature, it would also pollute his image, because his story would then become more about magic, and less about bringing peace, which seems entirely unnecessary.

Making Callum a half-elf in The Dragon Prince would thus mean that humans do not have anything special about them, and would also justify Claudia and Viren’s attempts to use dark magic because as humans learning anything would be pointless.

Since such implications go completely against the theme of the show, it is highly unlikely that Callum is half-elf in The Dragon Prince.
