Daredevil: Born Again has been slowly unfolding its dark and gritty narrative. But by now fans have already started piecing together clues about one of the show’s potential villains, Muse.

He was properly introduced in Episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again. Muse is a masked figure who appears to be involved in grotesque artistic killings. He creates horrifying artworks from his victims' blood. But who is behind the mask?

We think Bastian could be Muse. He is a character played by Hunter Doohan and was briefly introduced in Episode 2 during Heather Glenn's book event.

This speculation is fueled by careful storytelling choices. It comes from camera focus to thematic dialogue and even the show's credit listings. But does the theory hold up?

Let’s break down the clues and analyze whether Bastian is truly the masked artist terrorizing Hell’s Kitchen.

In the comics, Muse is a psychopathic artist who uses blood as his medium. He is known for creating grotesque artworks from his victims. And he leaves a trail of macabre masterpieces across Hell’s Kitchen.

Now let’s talk about Hunter Doohan. He plays a character named Bastian in Daredevil: Born Again. His name appears in the credits for Episode 2 and Episode 4. These are two very specific episodes that seem to hint at something deeper.

We first meet Bastion in Episode 2. He is attending Dr. Glenn’s book signing. The scene itself is seemingly unimportant at first. It's just a guy attending the book event.

Heather Glenn discusses themes of confronting past traumas. She says,

"Confronting one's past trauma can lead to building skills and texhniques to find peace. Like the book says, 'Identify, interrogate, release.'"

And then when she's asked about her next book, she says,

"I've been thinking a lot about projected personas. How we present a curated version of ourselves, like through filters on social media or masks."

And right when she says that, the camera shifts focus to Bastian. Coincidence? Unlikely.

When Bastian approaches Dr. Glenn in Daredevil: Born Again, he’s nervous, almost vulnerable. He tells her he needs help and asks if she’s taking on new clients. She hands him her email, and that’s all we see of him for now.

But why introduce this character with such emphasis if he isn’t going to play a larger role later?

In Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 we finally see Muse. But he’s masked, so it is impossible to confirm his identity. But what do we see him doing? He hauls a body into his lair, where victims are strung up like grotesque art pieces.

Then there are bloody artworks and a live victim from whom he is drawing blood, perhaps for his next masterpiece. It’s unsettling, it’s terrifying, and it screams Muse.

And here’s where the biggest clue comes in. Hunter Doohan is credited in this episode even though we never see his face.

If Bastian was just a throwaway character, why would Doohan’s name appear here? The most logical explanation is that Bastian is Muse.

Daredevil: Born Again - Here's why the Bastian-Muse theory makes sense

First of all, Dr. Glenn’s book signing scene deliberately discusses masks and curated personas. And Bastian is made the focal point. Muse in Episode 4 is literally masked.

Secondly, Doohan is only credited in Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 2 and 4. If he were just Bastian, he’d likely appear in more episodes. But if he’s secretly Muse, it makes perfect sense.

Bastian approaches Dr. Glenn for help, possibly hinting at his struggles with his violent nature. Could Muse be trying to “fix” himself before fully embracing his twisted artistry?

If this theory holds, we can expect a major reveal in the coming episodes. Perhaps Bastian’s therapy sessions with Dr. Glenn will offer more insight into his psyche, or maybe we’ll get a dramatic unmasking moment.

Either way, it’s safe to say that Muse is probably going to be one of the most horrifying villains in Daredevil history.
