Netflix's Back in Action is the platform's latest movie directed by Seth Gordon, which has broken streaming records on the platform.
The movie was released on January 17, 2025, on Netflix and is available to stream on the platform now.
Starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in the titular roles, this is Diaz's comeback movie after almost 10 years. Both stars appeared together in the 1999 film Any Given Sunday, and Diaz's last film, Annie, before her hiatus was also with Foxx.

What is Netflix's Back in Action about?
Back in Action follows a couple, Matt and Emily, who are living a normal family life with their children in Atlanta. But it is revealed that they are not your ordinary next-door couple; as it turns out, they were former CIA NOC operatives who changed their identities and started a new life after a mission went haywire.
Fifteen years ago, the couple was tasked by their superior, Chuck, to steal a key from Polish KGB agent-turned-terrorist Balthazar Gor. The key is an Industrial Control System that can operate any electronic system in the world.
Since such a powerful weapon is lethal if stayed in the wrong hands like Gor, Matt, and Emily are entrusted to retrieve it during Gor's children's birthday party.
The couple successfully steals the key and escapes on a flight, but someone tips off their crew members, and they try to take the key away from them. The duo manages to escape the plane crash and decides to start a new life with new identities until they are spotted by Chuck and Gor's men in a club, and their past comes haunting back.
Back in Action is actress Cameron Diaz's comeback film
Actress Cameron Diaz, popularly known for her movies like The Holiday, What Happens in Vegas, Vanilla Sky, and The Sweetest Thing, stars as Emily alongside actor Jamie Foxx in Back in Action.
This Netflix movie is Diaz's first comeback project after ten years. In 2017, Diaz took a break from acting after appearing in Annie and instead focused on her family and investing in health and biotech startups.
In 2022, it was announced that she would make a comeback in acting with Netflix's Back in Action with Foxx.
In an interview with Vogue Mexico, she talks about the funny coincidence of the movie's title and her comeback:
“The title was already there before I signed on to the project. It was a total coincidence.”
Diaz has had her fair share of action movies like Charlie's Angels and Knight and Day, and felt that acting is ''in her DNA'':
“I’ve been doing this for more than half my life, it’s already a part of me. It’s something that’s in my body, in my mind, in my DNA.”
She added:
“It has been an intense journey, but the best thing I have ever done in my life,”
