A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a BBC and Netflix series that has kept the audience intrigued with its engaging storyline. The show follows 17-year-old Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, who investigates the murder of a local schoolgirl.
As Pip believes that the authorities have not done justice to the case, she takes it upon herself to bring out the truth about the girl’s disappearance and death. The show premiered internationally on Netflix on August 1, 2024; however, it only featured six episodes, which left the audience asking for more.
The audience's wishes are finally being fulfilled as A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is coming back for a second season. BBC and Netflix officially announced the renewal of the series on November 20, 2024.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder will return with season 2
Pip will be seen solving a new mystery in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2. The show is based on Holly Jackson’s novel series. The new season will be adapted from the second novel in the series, Good Girl, Bad Blood, which was released in 2020.
While the first installment of the TV show was written by Poppy Cogan, the creator will team up with author Jackson to pen the script for the second season. Expressing her happiness on the renewal of the show, Cogan said:
“I’m delighted to be back in Little Kilton with Pip and friends for Season 2 and to have the opportunity to bring another of Holly's gripping stories to the screen.”
Jackson also released a statement, revealing that she is thrilled to work on the show. She said:
“I am beyond thrilled that we can continue Pip’s story and, this time, I’m writing on the show! We owe everything to the dedicated fans, and I can’t wait to reunite with my AGGGTM family!”
The lead actors of the show, Emma Myers and Zain Iqbal, will be reprising their roles in season 2 as Pip Fitz-Amobi and Ravi Singh, respectively. Myers is also known for her performance as Enid Sinclair in Netflix’s Wednesday, while Iqbal made his television debut with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder.
Netflix has not yet announced the release date for the second season. However, it has been confirmed that production will begin in the UK in 2025. Keeping up with the first installment, the new season will also have six episodes.
What will A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 be about?
The first season was set five years after the disappearance of high school girl, Andie Bell. After the authorities found Bell’s boyfriend Sal Singh guilty of her murder, Pip sensed something was not right and decided to investigate the matter herself.
She was helped by her fellow, Ravi, who also happened to be Sal’s brother. As the two got to the bottom of the case, they proved that Sal was innocent and revealed the truth about Bell’s disappearance and murder.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 continues the story of Pip, who has decided to stay away from any more crime investigations. Meanwhile, she also has to deal with the repercussions of solving Bell’s case, while her love story with Ravi moves forward.
Pip gets drawn to another mystery as Jamie Reynolds, an important witness in the Max Hastings trial, goes missing. The teenager then once again gets involved in the cast to find the whereabouts of Reynolds. The official synopsis for the next season reads:
“After she solved the Andie Bell case, Pip’s world has been transformed by her actions, and not always for the better. Pip is determined to fix the fallout — and stay away from any more investigations.”
“But as Max Hastings’ trial approaches, key witness Jamie Reynolds suddenly disappears and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him.
