One of the Invincible characters we don't know much about is Green Ghost. Her civilian name is revealed to be Alana and works as a photographer and is married to a man named Theo. She possesses a green amulet that allows her to transform into her superhero alter ego. But we don't know much about this character because of her short screen time. However, there is one massive change to Green Ghost from the comics.

Like every other adaptation that changes elements from the comic books, Prime Video's Invincible also changes some things from Robert Kirkman's written source material. One minor change was made to Green Ghost too: changing the gender. The character is a man in the comics, despite sharing the same fate as the show counterpart.

Who is Green Ghost from Invincible?

The Green Ghost is brutally murdered by Omni-Man in the closing moments of the very first episode, "It's About Time." The way in which Omni-Man murders the entire Guardians of the Globe is similar. We don't know much about the Green Ghost either in the comics or the show. But it should be noted that the animated series does expand on the character a bit.

As stated earlier, the show's version of Green Ghost is married to someone named Theo, and she works as a photographer. However, apart from this small change, her character traits are very similar to her comic book counterpart, who shares phasing powers, much like the Martian Manhunter from the DC Universe.

But Green Ghost is not the first time that the Invincible show changed the gender of a character from the comics. While the gender and race of primary characters like Omni-Man, Debbie, Mark, and Eve are the same in the show, other characters like Green Ghost and Shrinking Ray have their genders changed.

Shrinking Rae's is a woman in the Invincible show:

The Shrinking Rae we meet in the show is actually a man in the Invincible comics. Much like Marvel's Ant-Man, Shrinking Ray can shrink himself small, which helped the Guardians avoid the supervillain traps. However, his storyline differs from that in the show when he has to fight the Lizard League. In the source material, Ray is devoured by the supervillain Komodo Dragon, like in the show.

However, unlike the show, Ray dies in the comics. This is why it was surprising that Rae survived the same ordeal in the show, surprising the fans. However, the show does have an homage to the comic book Shrinking Ray in the latest episode of the animated series. Fans noticed that reference on the date invitation that Rex sent Rae.

In the latest episode, Rae and Rex have a touching date, for which he even cooks for her. Rex sends a cute invitation card for the date drawn by him to Rae. On the envelope containing the card, we see that Rex has misspelled Rae's name before crossing off the mistake and writing the correct spelling.

The misspelled name serves as an homage to the character from the comics. Considering that Rae has survived the Lizard League encounter in the show, fans are excited about where she will go from here. Some are also hoping that another version of Green Ghost is created for the show, much like Darkwing II, even though the latter exists in the comics.

Would you be okay if the makers of the Invincible show created a Green Ghost II?
