Even if it is an animated superhero show, Invincible shows the realistic consequences of superhero action on the general public. The first season famously ended on a brutal note where our superhero Mark Grayson is beaten to a pulp by his own father Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man, who has been posing as a protector of the Earth.
The fight, despite its outlandish concept, ends with a bloody carnage. Unlike Man of Steel and countless other PG-13 superhero flicks, Invincible doesn't shy away from the violence caused by superhuman violence regardless of the super-powered individual's moral alignment. The next two seasons follow the same template as the first.
Invincible Season 3 Episode 7 will finally feature a multiversal crossover event, which may affect the show's latest villain, Powerplex.
Invincible's multiversal crossover event explained
Invincible Season 3's sixth episode "All I Can Say Is I'm Sorry" ended on a more sinister note. Angstrom Levy, who is revealed to be alive in the third episode, has collected numerous (probably evil) variants of Mark Grayson across the multiverse. In the clip for the seventh episode, "What Have I Done?" we see countless Mark Grayson variants appearing from Levy's portal possibly for an invasion.
This crossover event dubbed "The Invincible War" lasted only for the Invincible #60 issue. It featured not only the characters from the titular character's universe but also other Image Comics characters. The synopsis for the comic was as follows:
"The Invincible War: THE CROSSOVER EVENT OF THE DECADE! Invincible is drawn into a company-wide crossover event done in ONE oversized issue! SPAWN! SAVAGE DRAGON! SHADOWHAWK! CYBERFORCE! PITT! ULTRA! and many, many more all here for one issue...; don't miss it!"
While we may or may not see Spawn in episode seven, the upcoming multiversal war will probably set up Powerplex's appearance in the fourth season.
How Invincible Season 3 Episode 7 could set up Powerplex's involvement in the fourth season
The third season's sixth episode featured a character who is linked to the season 1 finale. Scott Duvall, a scientist working for the GDA, loses his niece and sister to Omni-Man and Invincible's fight in Chicago. While fighting the half-Viltrumite hero, Powerplex accidentally kills his wife and infant, for which he holds the masked hero responsible.
The very next episode will feature evil variants of Mark destroying major cities of "prime" Earth. This event will result in a huge surge in support for Powerplex/Scott Duvall amongst the public. While he will probably not appear this season due to incarceration, it should be noted that he is still holding a grudge against Mark's alter-ego.
However, evil variants of Mark might finally push public opinion against Mark, who was mostly grudgingly seen by the people as the only line of defense against a possible Viltrumite invasion. However, the multi-versal crossover plays out in the next episode and one thing is for sure, Angstrom Levy has ruined Mark's life like no other villain has.
How will the upcoming multiversal event tarnish Mark's reputation?
Angstrom Levy was introduced as a villain in the second season of the animated series as someone who has an axe to grind with the hero. Levy's mind is merged with his multiversal counterparts, and because of that, he remembers all the ways they lost something to evil variants of Mark. By letting loose these variants on the "prime" Earth, Levy has made sure that the rest of humanity shares his hatred for the hero.
