Invincible Season 3 Episode 5 recap
"This Was Supposed to Be Easy" shows our heroes make major decisions that will have huge ramifications on this series beyond Invincible Season 3. Here are some of the important moments from this episode:
- Oliver has new friends
Mark and Eve are together in his room when Debbie knocks on his door. She looks worried and reveals to Mark that Oliver is not in his room. Mark and Eve suit up, believing that Oliver is missing. However, they are surprised to find that Oliver is just skating with his friends. He stands up to the bullies who cause him and his friends trouble.
- Rex and Rae are growing closer
Fans have been liking the Rex and Rae interactions in the previous five episodes of Invincible Season 3. Therefore, they both have a heartwarming and charming date in this episode. Furthermore, Rex even cooks for this special occasion, which is a cherry on top.
- Mark and Eve think about the next step
In the previous episode, we saw Mark and Eve sneak into his room for some alone time. Debbie is supposedly unaware that Eve is inside the room and the same is supposed to be the case, even in this episode. Therefore, Mark and Eve decide to opt for a live-in relationship so that they don't have to hide anymore.
- The Order and Mister Liu
This episode's main threat comes from Mister Liu, the head of the global criminal syndicate The Order. Even if he looks old, Mr. Liu is one of the toughest supervillains in the Invincible Universe. Accompanied by an intimidating bodyguard, Mr. Liu is a force to be reckoned with on his own. That's because he can astral project a giant dragon from his body. The bodyguard guards Liu's body when the latter is in his dragon form.
He wants Titan to break Multi-Paul (Dupli-Kate's brother) out of imprisonment, which the mob boss finds hard. When Titan refuses Liu to help Multi-Paul out, the head of The Order, astral projects the giant dragon and attacks Titan. After attacking him, the dragon heads to the prison where Multi-Paul is incarcerated. Invincible flies into the scene to stop the dragon.
But Invincible and Eve are no match for Liu's powers. Liu can harm Mark badly. He is about to kill Mark, but Machine Head enters the office where the bodyguard is looking after Liu's human body. Earlier in the episode, Titan visited Machine Head in the prison. He has Isotope teleport Liu's bodyguard and shoots Liu's body, causing the dragon to disintegrate.
However, that does not mean that Mr. Liu is gone for good. In the post-credit scene, we see him coming back to life.
- Mark and Eve decide to take things slow
After fighting Mr. Liu, Mark and Eve, who initially thought of finding an apartment and moving in together, decide to pause that plan and take their relationship slow for now.
