Investigation Alien is a documentary series on Netflix featuring investigative journalist George Knapp, who seeks to gather proof of alien existence. The show follows Knapp and his team investigating UFO sightings and reports of alien encounters.

The journalist has spent his life on a mission to collect evidence about extraterrestrial beings, studying UFOs since the 1980s. Knapp is also the journalist who popularized theories about Area 51 among the common people.

The docuseries, which premiered on Netflix on November 8, 2024, showcases some of the most mysterious and chilling signs of alien activity through stories from witnesses, visits to spooky places, and even strange encounters with the government.

During its six-episode run, Investigation Alien made some surprising revelations, which are ranked below.

7 most shocking reveals in Netflix’s Investigation Alien

7) Animal mutilation in Oregon

In one of the episodes of Investigation Alien, Knapp’s investigation into animal mutilations in Oregon led to a creepy disclosure. Two ranchers, Colby Marshall and Dave Ward, shared stories about finding their cattle mutilated in strange ways.

Their animals had organs like lips, genitals, and ears surgically removed, and their blood was completely drained. Local law enforcement suspected that a cult might have been behind the attack, but Knapp thought otherwise.

The incident took place in 2019 when five bulls were found dead with no signs of an attacker or poisonous plants. A similar case came to light in the 1970s when thousands of animals were found with their organs removed in Oregon.

As witnesses reported seeing strange lights and UFOs nearby, Knapp wondered if aliens were experimenting on the animals. The way these mutilations were done suggests it was not a regular predator or person.

Knapp’s theory is that aliens might be using these animals’ organs for some reason, leading to another question of what are the extraterrestrial beings doing with them.

6) Tampico’s underwater UFOs

In Tampico, Mexico, Knapp found locals with unusual beliefs about having UFOs inside the sea. Many people believed that aliens had an underwater base just off the coast. There were frequent reports of UFOs flying over the ocean.

Some locals thought the aliens were protecting the coast from hurricanes. Local meteorologist Amalia Avalos dismissed this idea, saying the ocean currents diverted the hurricanes away from the area, and it was not the aliens' job.

However, the large number of UFO sightings around water still intrigued Knapp, as it suggested that UFOs might have been hiding in oceans worldwide, where they could avoid being seen.

5) The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office report

In another episode of Investigation Alien, Knapp’s investigation brought him head-to-head with the US government’s stance on UFOs. In January 2022, the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office released a report saying they had found no evidence of alien technology after investigating over 500 UFO cases.

This made Knapp skeptical, as he recalled the famous Roswell UFO incident in 1947. Back then, the US Air Force initially claimed they had found a UFO, only to change the story to a ‘weather balloon’ 24 hours later.

To Knapp, this seemed like the government was hiding something. He believed they may have known more than they admitted, perhaps to avoid causing public panic.

4) Red light in Council Bluffs’ sky

In Council Bluffs, Iowa, Knapp uncovered a strange incident from 1997. A man named Mike Moore was driving with his father when they saw a red light fall from the sky and crash, causing a small fire.

They went to the site and found twisted pieces of metal. Mike kept a sample of the metal for 25 years. Knapp sent the metal to a lab for testing, and they found it was made from materials like titanium, aluminum, and magnesium, which are frequently used on Earth.

Though the result was disappointing as it did not confirm alien origin, it still raised questions about what had caused the crash and why such unusual metals were used in the thing that fell from the sky.

3) Spaceship sighting in Indonesia

Another shocking story in Investigation Alien came from former US Marine Michael Herrera. While on a humanitarian mission in Sumatra, Indonesia in 2009, Herrera reported seeing something that looked like a giant spaceship floating above a hilltop.

The ship was about 300 feet wide, with rotating and flashing lights across its surface. Surprisingly, Herrera said the ship had seams and rivets, making it look like it was made by human technology, not alien.

Additionally, Michael added that it looked like the ship was being loaded with weapons. He believed the government might have built their own spaceship. Unfortunately, any footage he took was reportedly stolen, leaving no evidence of his story.

The revelation still added depth to the mystery of aliens, suggesting that humans might have been building UFO-like machines for their own use, which could also explain the numerous spaceship sightings over the years.

2) The Phoenix Lights mystery

In Investigation Alien, Knapp also explored the famous Phoenix Lights incident from March 13, 1997. This was one of the biggest UFO sightings in recent history, with hundreds of people, including actor Kurt Russell, reporting strange lights over Phoenix, Arizona.

People reported seeing unusual lights between 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm MST across a 300-mile area from Nevada to Tucson. Some said they saw a huge, V-shaped object with five lights over Phoenix. Arizona’s governor at the time later called the lights ‘otherworldly.’

However, the government later claimed it was just flares from a military exercise, citing that the lights were a combination of a group of A-10 military planes flying back to their base and the flares dropped during training.

But the lights stayed in place, moved slowly, and didn’t look or behave like flares. Knapp interviewed many witnesses who were certain they had seen a massive UFO. The incident still remains a mystery, with no solid answers.

1) Alien time-travel theory

One of the wildest ideas Knapp investigated was the theory that aliens might actually be future humans visiting us. Mike Masters, an anthropology professor, took Knapp to Capitol Reef National Park in Utah to see ancient rock paintings.

These 4,000-year-old drawings showed figures that looked like today’s common descriptions of aliens: big heads, wide eyes, and what looked like spacesuits. Masters suggested that humans could evolve to look just like these figures over hundreds of thousands of years.

He believed future humans might have invented time travel to come back and study their ancient ancestors. If this was true, it means that UFOs are not just alien spaceships; they could be time machines used by future populations to come back in time.

Every shocking reveal in Investigation Alien makes the audience question what they know about UFOs and aliens. Even though the series does not offer final proof of alien life, it gives an insight into the extraterrestrials.

All six episodes of Investigation Alien are available to stream on Netflix.
