ABC's Abbott Elementary, which is about to wrap up Season 4, was earlier renewed by the network for Season 5, which was good news for fans.
Debuting in December 2021, the sitcom follows the daily lives of teachers and students as they function in a mismanaged and underfunded titular predominantly Black public school in Philadelphia.
The Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards-winning show partly owes its success to the brilliant cast, and their chemistry is on full display in each episode.
Back in October 2022, some of the cast members, including Quinta Brunson (Janine Teagues), Chris Perfetti (Jacob Hill), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Barbara Howard), Lisa Ann Walter (Melissa Schemmenti), and William Stanford Davis (Mr. Johnson), engaged in an amusing game with Vanity Fair, where their chemistry was on full display.
Here's a look back at one of the moments from that segment of the Abbott Elementary cast.
When the Abbott Elementary cast got to know each other
No wonder that ABC's Abbott Elementary continues to surprise its audiences with new episodes marked by equal amounts of humor and conviction because of its strong cast. The teachers are the glue that holds the school together, and the chemistry between the actors is self-evident in the show.
While all the actors play off of each other's energies beautifully on the show, their chemistry also looked rock solid during a fun get-to-know-each-other session in an interview with Vanity Fair.
The five core cast members engaged in a fun questions round, asking personal questions about each other's lives. The cast member with the most rights would win the game.
When Sheryl Lee asked about the year she graduated from college, Brunson was the first one to chime in with 19. However, she immediately rethought and said:
"I'm changing my answer"
She eventually changed her answer to 21, but the correct answer was, in fact, 19. The question also earned a humorous answer from Davis, who answered 30, earning a sassy reply from Sheryl, who claimed she is still 30. However, Sheryl Lee ultimately emerged as the winner of the game.
What happened in the latest episode of Abbott Elementary Season 4?
Abbott Elementary Season 4 released its penultimate episode on April 9, 2025, which finally saw Ava return as the school's principal after being suspended from her position a few episodes earlier.
But before that, Gregory stepped into his interim principal position and gave his all, even convincing Miles to reclassify the golf club as non-profit, which helped them raise funds legally.
Later, when Janine, Barbara, Melissa, and Jacob stage a walkout from their respective positions to support Ava, Gregory handles the situation well and looks for temporary staff to replace them. However, the teacher's plan backfires, and they are suspended for a week.
But the Abbott Elementary children become their saviors. After they also stage a walkout, the board ultimately brings Ava back to the school as its principal.
The Abbott Elementary Season 4 finale will air on ABC on April 16, 2025.
