Mark Cuban, the multi-billionaire investor on Shark Tank, recently did a segment with GQ. On here, he would have to go "undercover on the internet" and on various websites, have to fact check the information available.
In this YouTube video, we see when he logs into IMDb and opens his page. The information written about him states,
"After he sold his first company he tried acting without much success and even auditioned for a role in the film Twister in 1996 but lost out to Philip Seymour Hoffman."
Confirming the fact, Mark Cuban says that it is true and marks it correctly. Explaining why he took acting classes, he says,
"I took acting classes. Why? Because I wanted to meet people. That I did. I got to take classes with all kinds of, well this of back in the day, the cast of In Living Color, all these different shows."
Shark Tank's Mark Cuban explains his acting journey
Talking about when he started in the entertainment field, Mark explains,
"After I sold my first company, then I started trading technology stocks. I did so well I turned that into a hedge fund and almost immediately sold that. Moved out to L.A. to live on the beach and just be retired."
This was the point in time when he decided to go to acting classes. This is what led him to move up the ladder in this field and he started auditioning for various roles. Mark says,
"And so, I started auditioning. I auditioned for commercials. I had to put the Taco Bell hat on and just act stupid. Did some Ford commercials."
This brought him down to explaining what happened when he auditioned for Twister as was mentioned earlier in the IMDb page. Mark explained,
"So I auditioned for a movie, Twister. And got a callback. Got another callback. I'm thinking yeah. And then, didn't get the callback. I forget the roll but the name of the roll was Dusty, yeah, Dusty!"
Joking about the situation, Mark said,
"I'm thinking I'm Dusty but then I watched the movie and Philip Seymour Hoffman is Dusty. Academy Award Actor. I was right for the role. He was miscast."
