"I've been a very shallow person": Love is Blind star Dave opens up about his past self

Netflix premiered Love is Blind's eighth season on February 14, 2025, with the first batch of episodes. The debut episode of the reality show featured many blind dates between the singles.

One of those blind dates was between Dave (David), 33, and Lauren, 31, who works in educational sales. When she asked Dave about his work, he mentioned he was in Medical esthetics.

He shared more about his work and what kind of individual he used to be:

"I'm surrounded by Botox and filler and all this stuff all day, every day. All these people promote that, like, women should look a certain way. I've been a very shallow person. I used to try to, you know, dance around that a little bit, but...yeah, I mean, I just have, and that obviously has not worked."

However, he also added:

"I really don't wanna be that way. I know I'm way better than that. So, yeah, I mean, that's kind of why I'm here, for sure. There's not one way to be a beautiful woman. Like, there's tons."

Love is Blind Season 8 Episode 1: Dave opens up about his past self during his initial blind dates

The first episode of Love is Blind Season 8 featured many participants. One of them was Dave, who, like the rest of the singles, went on multiple blind dates.

As featured in the first episode, his first date was with Monica, whom he jokingly asked, "What was wrong with her," and why she chose to be part of the social experiment. His other dates included Tiera and Taylor, whom he asked the same question:

"What's wrong with you?"

Amongst them, Tiera asked him the same question.

His next date was with Madison. When she asked him his purpose behind joining the show, he shared:

"I just have kind of been an a*s to women in my previous dating life. I really wanted to confront myself about that."

In his introductory video, Love is Blind star shared about being surrounded by Botox and fillers because of his work. He mentioned facelifts, butt lifts, tummy tucks and how that had affected him in terms of what "a woman should look like." He confessed that for him, it was "always about looks."

However, because the social experiment doesn't allow individuals to "see" their potential connections and blind dates:

"There's none of that included in this experiment. It's testing me that, "Am I that guy?" I guess I still don't know. I guess we'll see."

His next date was with Lauren. He shared that because he was surrounded by Botox and fillers, he had a notion of how women should look. As a result, he mentioned being "very shallow."

However, he also stated that he didn't want to be "that way." That was why he joined the Love is Blind, a social experiment.
