Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban has been rumoured to run for President someday, but he has put that news to rest. Appearing for the Your Mom's House Podcast, he was questioned about running for office but he shit them down citing his family and the toll that it would take on them.
Dismissing the idea, Mark Cuban shared he could handle the pressure of the role but has no interest in putting his loved ones through the intense scrutiny and challenges that come with a political campaign and public office.
When the host, Tom, asked if running for President was within his realm of possibility or would it be too far-fetched, the Shark Tank investor immediately said no to the idea. His firm response left little room for speculation and reaffirmed his belief against entering the political arena.
Explaining why he would never think of that, Mark talked about the impact that it would have on his family. His decision aligns with other steps he has taken to protect his family, especially his kids, such as selling the Mavs. Talking about the same, he said,
"No, I wouldn't put my family through that... Terrible. I mean, yeah, I have no private life as it is, but just like the grief. I mean, I sold the Mavs because I just told you I didn't want them to go through the sh*t right now."
Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban shuts down the possibility of him running for President to protect his family
Elaborating on protecting his family, Mark Cuban, the Shark Tank investor, cited an example of his recent decision to sell the majority shares of the NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks.
In the interview, he revealed he does not want his kids to go through the scrutiny of it all if they ever make a wrong decision, and the fans will come after them.
Mark said that even though his children would be okay and would handle the heat, it would break him because he is the one who put them in such a situation in the first place.
Recently, the Mavericks had gone through a Luka Doncic trade, and Mark has been vocal about how the team could have done better. Even the fans are not happy with the same.
Thinking about the future, Mark explained that if his kids had ever decided this one, they would be bashed on the internet, and he does not want that to happen ever.
However, the Shark Tank investor did entertain a hypothetical scenario where he might consider running for office. He said,
"Oh yeah, if I was single, I'd be like, 'Let's go, let's go,'"
Mark admitted that if he had not had his family to worry about, he probably would have entered the presidential campaign because it wouldn't have mattered to him that much then.
But right now, Mark is adamant not to put his family through all of that and wants to shield them from unnecessary stress, even when it comes to business.
He says that running for President is a grueling experience, and no one can be prepared for the same. Apart from that, Mark also mentioned that he has no enthusiasm towards the role. The Shark Tank investor explained,
"I could deal with it. I could deal with it, but it's not even a job that I really want."
This means that his lack of political ambition is not just about the challenges involved but also his personal preference.
Shark Tank season 16 episodes release weekly on ABC at 8 PM Eastern Time on Fridays. They are later available to watch on Hulu.
