Raegan Revord were only nine years old when they landed the role of Melissa "Missy" Cooper in Young Sheldon and impressed the audience. Their iconic performance as the titular genius’ younger sister has been etched in the viewers’ memories forever.
While Raegan perfectly fit the bill for Missy, they had earlier revealed that, in reality, they were starkly different from their character. In a 2022 interview with Unclear magazine, the actor disclosed how they were nerdier than Missy in real life:
“I’m actually very different from Missy. I’m way more introverted and nerdier. Missy has so much confidence and I really admire her for that. I’m much more self-conscious.”
Raegan Revord once talked about the differences between them and Young Sheldon’s Missy Cooper
In their interview, Raegan Revord not only acknowledged the differences between them and their Young Sheldon character but also highlighted how the role helped them get out of their comfort zone:
“Playing her has pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to see what it’s like being a middle schooler.”
At the time, Raegan opened up about how they gained a deeper understanding of television production due to their experience on the set of Young Sheldon. They said:
“When I started the show, I was so young! I would basically just come to work with my lines memorized. Now that I’m older and have spent years on a set I approach the scenes differently, by thinking about the camera setup, my timing, I just have a deeper understanding of what’s really going on.”
Raegan then talked about their favorite things on set, revealing that the cast behaved like a real family, bonding and having fun together. Recalling a prank they played on Melissa Peterman, who played Billy's mother, Raegan said:
“I think one of my favorite things is all the scaring and pranking we do on set. We are like a real family, and we are very comfortable with each other so we get a lot of joy from scaring each other. We have this creepy little demon doll, we call her DD, and she gets passed around a lot.”
“One time I put her in Melissa Peterman’s (Brenda Sparks) bag and when she got home and opened her bag there she was! Then Mrs. Melissa started taking her around town to run errands with her. It was hilarious. We put her in one of our director’s cars and haven’t seen her since.”
Raegan Revord starred as Missy Cooper in all seven seasons of Young Sheldon. Missy and Sheldon shared a typical brother-and-sister bond, where the former sometimes teased the latter but also loved him deeply. Missy was not as intelligent as her brother but possessed a high emotional quotient.
Apart from Young Sheldon, Raegan has also played Missy in the spin-off series Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Their other television credits include Alexa & Katie, Teachers, Grace and Frankie, W/ Bob & David, and Modern Family.
Beyond their professional accomplishments, Raegan also made news recently for their personal life as they came out as non-binary. The actor made the announcement during a Twitch stream in January 2025.
