Andor creator Tony Gilroy has been a part of the Star Wars franchise for a very long time. He started out as a co-writer of the 2016 spinoff movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and then went on to create a Disney+ prequel series to the film titled Andor. The Disney+ prequel series is all set to premiere with its second and final season, and it appears that after a decade of creating for this franchise, Tony Gilroy is also all set to say goodbye to the Star Wars universe for the time being.

Here's everything we know about Tony Gilroy's plans post-Andor.

Rogue One introduced the Rebel captain Cassian (played by Diego Luna), whose role was reprised in the prequel series as well, which narrates the character's story before the events of Rogue One. The upcoming season of the prequel series is the final exploration of the Rogue One rebellion getting on its feet under Tony Gilroy.

In a conversation with ScreenRant, Andor creator Tony Gilroy talked about his plans after the release of Season 2. Talking about his future in the Star Wars universe, Gilroy implied that even though he would 'never say never,' it might be time for him to step away from the franchise. After almost ten years of creating for the franchise, first in the movie alongside Chris Weitz and later in the Disney+ prequel series, he must step away from the Star Wars universe to do something else.

Tony Gilroy explained that he felt that he had taken up things in the Star Wars universe, but hopefully, he had left them better than when he found them. So, this might be the perfect moment for him to step away from the franchise and 'leave it at that.'

"I think I really have given a lot and I think it's time for me to go do something else. I'm trying to get movie off. I mean, I'll never say never, but I mean I really, it's been five and a half, six years. And then if you throw in Rogue, it goes into 10. I mean, I've tried to leave things in better shape than I've took in my five years and I've left them in better shape than I found them. And I feel good about that. And right now I'd like to leave it like that."

Considering Tony Gilroy was nominated for a Golden Globe for his work in Andor, the temptation to continue in the franchise would be high. But it is also the best time for the creator to quit while he's ahead and get his "movie off" the ground.

Post-Andor might be the best time for the creator to explore opportunities outside of the Star Wars universe after building up a successful career, both before and during his tenure in the franchise.
