The world of Harry Potter seems to have made a slight resurgence in recent years after a slump following the second and third Fantastic Beasts movies. There is an upcoming HBO series that's currently gearing up for production at Leavesden Studios. In addition, Potter-themed stores are opening up in different countries now and then.
One such store recently opened up in Chicago, and actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter movies, sat down for an interview with YouTuber Jake Hamilton on his channel, Jake's Takes. In the interview, Felton touched on several topics, including the HBO series. Felton revealed that he may visit the set of the HBO series to meet the child actor who may play Draco in the series. His exact words were:
“It's exciting, isn't it? I look forward to meeting the youngster. From what I gather- I can't- don't want to confirm it, but I think it's shooting at Leavesden Studios as well. There will be a trailer or a dressing room with the word Draco Malfoy on again. I look forward to surprising whoever the youngster is... Definitely 100%, not for advice, but just to say enjoy it, and I look forward to meeting the young scallywag.”
What do Tom Felton's recent Harry Potter comments mean?
Felton's comments seem to be geared towards the child actors cast in the upcoming Harry Potter show. He is not the only one to echo similar sentiments regarding the upcoming show. Scottish actress Katie Leung also expressed a similar sentiment in an interview with GamingBIBLE's Kate Harrold at the BAFTA Games Awards:
“I remember feeling really scared, because it’s going to be such a huge budgeted show and there’s going to be so many people involved. I think it’s really important to remember to be true to how you want to play a character, and just don’t let outer voices get to you. You’ve been cast for a reason, for a very good reason. Just roll with it.”
Both of these actors seem to care about the child actors being cast in the HBO Harry Potter series because of the pressure they might be going through in preparation for their respective roles.
What is the release date for the Harry Potter series, and who is involved in it?
There is no release date for the HBO Harry Potter series, as filming has yet to begin. However, the show is scheduled to begin production this summer, but it is to be noted that even the actors have not yet been announced. Except for one official casting confirmation, John Lithgow as the Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Other than him, no casting is official for now, including the three protagonists.
Channing Dungey, who currently serves as the Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, recently revealed to Deadline that casting for the main trio or any other student is still underway. Here is what she said:
"We are not yet ready to announce the kids, we’re still working our way through that process. I have to give you credit, you at Deadline are consistently breaking the news even when we’re not ready, so I feel like you are very up to speed on all things Potter in that way."
When the Deadline interviewer asked Dungey whether the HBO Harry Potter show is still on track to begin filming in the summer of this year, she responded:
"Still on track for summer start of production. The rest we’ll know more as we get rolling."
Thus, we know very little about the upcoming HBO show based on the books published between 1997 and 2007. However, we still have all eight Harry Potter movies on the streaming platform Max.
