Courteney Cox will forever be the iconic Monica Geller to Friends fans - the fiercely competitive, obsessively clean, and passionate chef. But do you know that behind Monica's perfection and sharp memory is the actor Courteney Cox, who has a hard time remembering things.

Yes, Cox, the popular SAG award-winning American actress and filmmaker known for her roles in Cougar Town, Family Ties, and Master of the Universe, has a vague memory.

In a 2022 interview with Willie Geist on Sunday Today (Sitdown Interview), she opened up about her memory. She revealed that she hardly possesses any memory of filming the iconic sitcom. Not just her professional life, Cox also revealed that she could hardly remember any of her childhood memories, especially the trauma. She said,

"I don't remember any trauma in my childhood, but I have, like, three memories. I don't know why."

Cox regretted not watching the episodes of Friends before filming for the special feature Friends: The Reunion in 2021. She revealed that she did face difficulties while shooting for the reunion episode, and she said,

"I see it on TV sometimes, and I stop. Oh my god, I don't remember at all, it's so funny."

The Scream actress admitted that she doesn't remember filming many episodes of the sitcom and struggles to recall other details from the show. There's one thing that she does regret- not taking enough behind-the-scenes images of this show. She told,

"I 'm kinda bummed that we didn't spend time taking more picture."

But there's one memory that sticks out crystal clear. Here's what we know about it.

Why did director James Burrow give $500 to the Friends cast before the show aired?

Before the show's premiere in 1994, director James Burrow took the main cast of Friends to Las Vegas for a bonding experience. Cox remembered that the Friends Director, James Burrow, gave each cast member of Friends $500 to spend at the casino. Burrow, who was confident of the success of the sitcom, said to the group,

"It will be the last time that six of you can walk through a casino."

Cox, even though she couldn't understand what the director meant at that time, gradually, after the release and huge success of the sitcom, she understood what the director envisioned. She said,

"And he was so right."

Even though Friends wrapped up 20 years ago, it's still everywhere- streaming, reruns, memes, merchandise. With 8.9/10 stars on IMDb and 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, Friends remains one of the most loved sitcoms of all time. After ten successful seasons, the sitcom came to an end on May 6, 2004. Owing to its popularity and success, the franchise expanded and led to a spin-off series, Joey, and a special feature film, Friends: The Reunion.

The series follows six friends in their late 20s- Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross- as they navigate their lives in Manhattan, New York City.
