Hulu's Got to Get Out Season 1 was released on April 11, 2025. The reality show consists of eight episodes where 20 contestants compete against each other to win the prize pot. One of the participants on the show was Spencer Pratt.
The show ended with 16 contestants winning the remaining prize money, which was divided among them. The amount of $687,840 was divided, and each of those 16 participants, including Spencer Pratt, received $42,996.
In his April 15, 2025, exclusive interview with US Weekly, Got to Get Out star Spencer Pratt revealed where the prize money went.
"That $40,000 went to taxes, a lawyer, manager and agent. I think even I had to buy the wardrobe that I took that wasn't shirts (of my wife Heidi Montag). I don't think there was that much to invest into anything."

Hulu's recent competition show Got to Get Out aired its debut season and released all eight episodes on April 11, 2025. Participants include Cynthia Bailey from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Val Chmerkovskiy from Dancing With the Stars, Demi Burnett from The Bachelor, and Susan Noles from The Golden Bachelor.
In his recent interview with US Weekly, Spencer Pratt revealed that the prize money that he won is no longer there. He stated that $40,000 went to the lawyer, manager, agent, and taxes. There wasn't "that much" to invest in "anything."
However, Spencer added that he had a "fun experience" and that:
"They did provide three meals a day and as much caffeine as I could ever dream of."
Hulu's official synopsis for Got to Get Out Season 1 reads:
"A clock will go from zero to a million dollars in just 10 days. Every second they stay, the more they have a chance to earn. They could split the money equally at the end, but at any point in time, anyone could try to steal the accumulated money all for themselves. All they have to do is get to the gate without getting caught."
As featured on Got to Get Out Season 1, Stein Retzlaff and Cynthia Bailey escaped from the show with $312,060. Then, Jill Ashlock and Clare Crawley exited the show, and 16 contestants remained in the house.
The remaining prize pot was $687,940. According to the show's format, it was divided equally among the remaining participants, which was $42,996 each.
"I couldn't have prepared myself for how competitive trying to win $1 million really makes you and the adrenaline and the nerves because you're also guarding the money. You're under so much pressure, 'That's my money. I can't let anyone take it,'" said Spencer Pratt.
He added that all of his fellow participants were there "truly" to win the money.
