"I don’t know how to navigate it" - 90 Day Fiancé star Shawn feels unsure about his relationship with Alliya

It was only recently that couple Shawn and Alliya were introduced to us on 90 Day Fiancé after their appearance on Love In Paradise season 4. Alliya is from Brazil, and in the most recent episode 6, we saw her finally arrive in the United States. Greeting her at the airport, Shawn brought a puppy with him, and the two hugged.

As soon as they met on 90 Day Fiancé, however, their underlying issues started to come up. The biggest one was about an open relationship, and they both disagreed on the matter. Alliya is not a woman right now but is hoping to make a full transition because that is what makes her comfortable.

But Shawn is not on board with this because he feels like he does not want to be with a woman but a man. In a confessional talking about his feelings and the future of his relationship with Alliya, he said,

“So, if she’s fully going to be a woman, then I know that I’ll be missing the company of being with a man. So I don’t know how to navigate it where we’re both like happy.”

90 Day Fiancé star Shawn is doubtful about his relationship with Alliya

Alliya paved her way into the United States after having a tough time with the visa approval process. Upon visiting Shawn's home in West Hollywood which was once owned by Michael Jackson, she remarked at how it was "eclectic." In particular, she seemed to be uncomfortable with the random dinosaur decor that is around the house.

As for Shawn, he expressed his feelings in a confessional on 90 Day Fiancé while on the way to pick Alliya up from the airport. He said,

“I can’t believe that after two years that it’s like finally here. It seems a little surreal. Today is like almost like a miracle. Since the beginning of knowing Alliya, I’ve always said I can’t do long distance. I need to see how we sleep, how we wake, how we eat, how we coffee, how we live. I need that daily life.”

Now that the two are finally in the United States and with each other, Alliya started to talk about the topic of an open relationship. They had been in one for the longest time because of the distance between them.

She thinks that the arrangement should end now that they are close with each other, but Shawn does not give her a definitive answer. Talking about his thoughts, he said,

"You just got here. So, I feel like that’s something we need to discuss. But I don’t feel like we need to discuss that tonight because you know, that’s let’s save that stuff for another day. Let’s see how we do in these next couple of days and see how we go.”

Shawn is not fully on board with closing the relationship. He says he would miss the company of a man because he did not "sign up to be in a relationship with a woman."

Alliya is adamant about getting a transition done, and thus, it would be hard for him to be in such a relationship after marriage. This is what is confusing him about their engagement right now.

Later in the 90 Day Fiancé episode, the couple decided to go on a hike and spend some time out of the house. On the track, they discussed their family situation, and Shawn revealed that only his mother knows about Alliya. He was hoping to tell the rest by arranging a meeting with her and "see what happens" from that point.

Another issue that came up on 90 Day Fiancé was the topic of a grand wedding as Alliya wants one but Shawn does not care for it.
